Moving Recommendations

I'm looking to get a new job with the FAA and I need to pick 10 cities that I would like to be considered for. I've done a little looking online and came up with a floating list of possibilities.

Sacramento, CA
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Denver, CO
Colorado Springs, CO
Kansas City, MO
Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN
Indianapolis, IN
Cincinnati, OH
Columbus, OH
Raleigh, NC
Jacksonville, FL

I'm 25, single and male. Bascially I'm looking for an area with a reasonable cost of living. I make over 50K a year so I don't need dirt cheap, but yet I don't want ludicrous expensive. Ideally I'd like to be able to buy a house in a suburb, but still be able to have access to the city life. Do any of you guys live in these cities or have lived in them at some point? Anything you can tell me?

The above 2 are pretty reasonably priced areas. I lived in Columbus OH for 6 years. Now I live in SC, but have friends and family in Raleigh. It is really nice there.

Are pricey. I have had good friends who live in both and really could not afford a good house in a good neighborhood while making over 100,000.
 
Pittsburgh, PA...

I'm obviously a little biased, but every out-of-state friend that has visited me has commented how surprisingly great the city was. I'm in a similar age/income range as you, and the cost of living here cannot be beat!

... not to mention we have Steeler football!!!
 
Cincinnati. Plenty of reasonable housing, and it's just awesome here. Pro sports teams, right on the river, KY has a lot to offer in the way of cheaper housing and entertainment. Of course, my opinion is swayed slightly...

sorry- I thought it said movie recomendation, so I felt obligated to give one.

and, I have lived in Idaho, So.Cal, Texas, and now Florida. Make the move based on "hobby." I came to Fl for the year round skydiving and I have never been happier.

if you base the decision on "hobby" you will always have "your release" and it will make you better at everything!
