I'm sure there's been a thread or ten on this subject before, but I'm curious and it's either resurrect an old thread or start a new.

That said, what's your favorite movie and why.

I won't play fairly b/c I won't answer the question completely right now.

But I will tell you that my favorite movie goes by the title of "Instinct."

basic or primal?

How can a person possibly pick one favorite movie?

it would depend on my mood...

Casablanca - this movie needs a reason?

The Blues brothers - brilliantly funny

The Big Lebowski - stupidly funny

Bull durham = ir's a baseball movie - nuff said and it's less embarassing than admitting I love For Love of the Game

probably about 15 more added to the list

Mouline Rouge - I'm a music person and I used to tango dance... so it pretty much is awesome all around. Plus the costumes just amazing. I could go on for hours, but won't bore you.

Favorite recent movie would be Juno. I absolutely adored every minute of it.

Princess Bride

While I agree with mal that you really need to qualify that question, I could watch this movie (and have watched) in any mood, and love the hell out of it.

My favorite line from Bull Durham:
Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em.

Yea, I usually hate these kinds of questions; like favorite song, movie, etc.

But I watched Instinct for the 5 time or so last night and it hit me that I like this movie more than any other I can think of.

Great cast in that movie...

Does Sutherland play a good guy or a bad guy? I love it when he plays really evil characters :D

... adds it to the netflix list...

I do like movies like that - psychological thrillers are up there along with baseball movies as my go to movie choice :D

Heh - if you look at the awards section on IMDB - it was nominated for worst movie in 2000 but didn't win :) Not that winning awards has any bearing at all on a movie being good :)

It's a Wonderful Life - This movie, no matter how many times I see it, really gets to me. It is full of hope.

Elizabeth - Because I love Elizabeth I and I think this is one of the best biopics of her life.

Random Harvest (1942) - One of those old movies that slip through the cracks. Touching

The Color Purple - Another movie about the human condition and strength of character.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think. You might hate it.... it's that kind of movie.

Wow, that surprises me. But not really. I like strange things that not everyone likes.

There are so many great movies! My brother and I grew up on "The Dark Crystal" and "Labyrinth".
I love zombie movies though:) Seen most of the new ones but loved "Shaun of the Dead" lol. Every time I watched it it just got funnier!
Then of course there is the girlie flicks: "Bridget Jone's Diary" and "Devil Wears Prada" those are cute too:)
way to many to pick a favorite!

"The Dark Crystal"
