So I'm going to treat myself to a movie today & would really LOVE to get some popcorn. I know to stay away from the large, medium & SUPER UBER MASSIVE bucket sizes & am willing to devote calories to the treat, but danged if I can find a website that tells me what the calorie values are in popcorn from the Carmike cinemas! Looks like they would have to list it, even if it is leathal. I've already taken it easy calorie wise on breakfast & lunch & have a easy dinner planned, so I think I will be ok eating half a bag of small popcorn & a small drink, but who know what is really is.

My opinion is that this is a lifestyle change & that I can't cut out all the stuff I love, just have to find ways to make it fit in with the new life.

Anyone have any ideas on how to find the calories? Its not on Sparkpeople or the Carmike websites.
 
& yes I plan on hitting the treadmill with a vengence today also... :)

Holy cow!

I ended up getting the small & only eating less than half (I estimated around 3 cups). Glad I didn't splurge for the biggie!

***& I am amazed at the people who didn't remember the plot to Bridge to Terebithia! lol.. someone even yelled out. I won't spoil it, but isn't that one of those books you are required to read in school? lol
 
the worst thing is the small probally cost you 7 bucks.. its like they charge you for each calorie. I went to the movies a couple weeks ago and got a bottled water... was freaking 4.50
 
Why popcorn? I know we're not suppose to sneak food in, but hum.. I DO IT ALL THE TIME! Sorry, I'm a frugal bastard. What I like to eat is well, if I really have to eat something is either crackers that are seasoned which provide fiber and a lower intake on calories, trail mix that I mix myself, gummy bears or just something a little less on fat and calories. Hmm, I also bring on the water or a water bottle filled with juice. But that's just me. Enjoy the movie!!
 
I used to bring in beef jerkey. Low cal, high sodium though. Before the diet I would bring in bean burritos from Taco Bell. But I figure it has to be better than anything else they have there.
 
Reading those calories was surprising. A whole bag of popped popcorn at home is only 150 calories or so. Why 1000?

That's also with no butter. I like to have popcorn with my BUTTER at the movies! :party:

Before the diet I would bring in bean burritos from Taco Bell. But I figure it has to be better than anything else they have there.

My bf would bring combination plates from Mexican joints and I thought that was pretty funny. I mean, he had the whole to go tray and everything.

Anyhow, on rare occasions I eat the food there, but if I can wing it without snacks/foods, I just eat afterwards.

It's the oil that the popcorn is popped in that makes it so tasty and so high calorie. I love movie theater popcorn so it's a good thing I don't go to the movies very often. :)

A whole bag of Act II 94% Fat Free popcorn popped at home is 260 calories, and it was the lowest-calorie I could find. So unless you use those little snack-size bags, I suspect you'd have a hard time finding a 150-calorie bag. (I will say though, that my microwave sucks, so not all of the corn pops, and I only get about 9 popped cups, rather than the 12 you'd theoretically get. So I scale down, and it's about 195 calories.)
