I will add to this post as I find good resources that help sort out how to get started making changes, maintaining changes, and starting again when your plans have been interrupted.
The first one is an ebook that you can download. It's written by Steve Troutman of Troutman Fitness. A lot of what he has written is very similar to the approach I usually take when people are just starting out (he just has a much better way of putting it into words!).
