Motivation and advice needed :)

Hi all!!!

So I need some serious advice.

I'm 23 years old, 4ft 11in and currently weight 154lbs (I started at 168lbs).

So I've just lost my first stone, and am really starting to struggle to stay motivated!!! Motivation and advice most definitely needed. I work in a office, with biscuits and cake everywhere and not much time to work out :/ any advice on this one? What can I do to avoid temptation and eat healthily while sat at my desk? At the moment, I swim before work twice a week and do a dance class once a week in the evening. I usually am horse riding/cycling/walking at the weekends. It's my eating habits and will power letting me down I think!

Looking to lose another 39lbs by Christmas .... here's hoping!!!!

If you adopt a clean diet without sugar and refined carbs like bread and pasta, you'll stop wanting to eat biscuits and cake. One, your taste preferences will change. Two, when your body has eradicated most of its toxins, you'll become more sensitive to the way foods make you feel. I know that if I dare eat a chocolate cake or something, I'll feel either nauseous or really jittery and tired at the same time... all around not pleasant! Not to mention what'll happen in the bathroom...

For the transition into eating healthy foods, though, here are some tips. Bring some healthy treats to work with you, so if you get an urge to eat a cookie or something, eat a fruit or a homemade sugar-free treat. If you cave in and eat something bad, it's okay. Calmly ask yourself how you feel now that you've had it. You probably won't feel good. Do that enough times and eventually you'll stop wanting to eat those treats. Alternatively, you could go take a walk or brush your teeth to eliminate the craving.

Stop your work a few times throughout the day to do a short workout in your cubicle or office. Do some pushups, jumping jacks, squats, and other things you can do in a small space. Get creative ;) Remember to sip water throughout the work day.

don't focuss just on losing weight or dieting, see the whole thing within the framework of life style change, so first you change your lifestyle (no more elevator, more walking, more sports etc, and in my case when I do some sports I actually feel less sensitive to food temptations..

In addition to the above suggestions, inspire yourself with other people's successes. Read about their stories. Watch Youtube videos about it. Then imagine how great you'll feel. Think about why you decided to lose the weight in the first place.

I am in the same situation as I have lost lots of weight before and found it easy then but am struggling to get into it this time. I am slowly getting motivation back by immersing myself in stories of success. If you see others can do it you will know you can do it too! And no treat will seem appealing enough to distract you from that feeling of pride and accomplishment you know you will have once you have done it.

What motivates me is I keep telling myself in my head "this food will be here when I get down to my weight I want"...the food never goes away so what is the hurry to eat it. I am always trying to tell myself that it has no power over me and it's just food. Hope that helps.....Motivation!!!

Motivation

You are doing a great job! I am a petite woman as well (5'1) and 5 lbs looks like 10 lbs. Keep up the hard work!

Also a short lady 5ft 2 now maintaining ;) I still track everything on myfitnesspal it helps to plan ahead what you are eating ;) on an average day my food well most of it will already be logged into myfitnesspal obviously life gets in the way sometimes and then it can be tweaked or you can call it your off day and get straight back on it tomorrow ;) I go to the gym 4 sometimes 5 times a week my favourite class is currently body attack :) I work with horses and have my own too so at maintenance am eating between 1830 to 2100 a day I mostly don't go lower than that number but will sometimes go higher on a meal out and when wine is involved!! Good luck on your journey thought would pop in and say hello to a fellow horse rider xx

I agree with marcela, if you only focus on the number on the scale it is a lot harder to lose weight. I personally have found that I have more success when the weight loss is a nice supplement to my goals. I like training for events and the byproduct is that I loose weight and am healthier. I started with 5ks and now have run 2 half marathons. I am al
Most down to a healthy weight now too.

I know how it is, you start something new with excitement and after a while for some reasone it's not so interesting anymore... But good job so far Kirsti! You said you still want to lose some before x-mas, you've got more than two months until then. Just skip everything that has sugar in it. Even juice. Don't cut back on fruit though, in fact have more fruits than you normally have. You can do it girl!

Thank you so much everyone!!!! So lovely to hear from a fellow horse rider and fellow short people in particular lol :D but thank you to everyone for your encouraging words and advice. So the plan from monday is to have cucumber on my desk at all times, ride 4 times a week, swim twice a week, and gym three times a week :D For the next 4 weeks gonna be really really hardcore, get in to the routine of exercise and eating healthily. I'm gonna be super strict to get in to it, because they say it takes 2-3weeks to change your taste buds .... so if I eat super healthily for the next few weeks then I should have altered my habits and taste buds and find it easier to maintain my healthy lifestyle. That's the plan anyways, so here goes!!!!!

Sounds like a plan! Don't be afraid to learn from your plan and modify as you go. As you progress you will find what works for you and what doesn't. :)
