Motivation after a big binge.

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if I am doing this right. But I have recently started my weightloss journey and I have lost 4 kilograms already. I feel so proud of myself except last night I had a HUGE binge. I ate every bad food possible. I woke up today and told myself that I will get straight back on it and eating healthy but today I did the EXACT same thing as last night.
I just feel like I've failed and I feel like I can't do it anymore.
Any advice on recovering after a binge?
Thanks. :lurk5:

It's so difficult when that happens. The mentality is almost to think that once you've slipped you might as well keep on slipping! I saw a motivational quote type thing that read "Thinking oh well, I've already eaten crap, may as well carry on, is a bit like saying oh well, I've dropped my phone, I'll just smash it 'til it breaks" For some reason that has always stuck with me and whenever I "fall off the wagon" as it were, I remember that the best thing to do is carry on doing the best I can and NOT GIVE UP!! :)

If you really struggle to hold back from binging try thinking of a way to reward yourself when you are able to abstain. Putting money in jar for each day you don't binge? Allowing yourself time on a games console? Anything that you can reasonably treat yourself to.

You definitely have it in you, so just keep going!!

It's important to expect and plan for lapses. It happens to everyone. How you deal with it will make all the difference. I try to learn from mine. What triggered it, what can I do next time... Things like that. Also sometimes I allow myself planned lapses just to have a break. I find when I allow myself small controlled lapses (Christmas - no food is off limits, I just take smaller portions. Sometimes I will take a week off training if I feel I need a break) I find it is easier to maintain my health and fitness in the long run.

Don't give up, everybody slips up now and then. LouLou86's idea of rewarding yourself just might work. 4 kilograms is a lot, remember that! Good luck.

It's easy to have that mindset, I've been there!!! But what you have to remember is that no one is perfect and people make mistakes! When you slip up, instead of thinking, oh I screwed up might as well keep on eating what I want since I ruined it anyway..... you need to change your thinking to, I screwed up today, but I'm going to do better tomorrow! I will eat clean and work out! When you can change your thinking to that, it really helps you keep on going!
