I am running out of low-calorie ideas to eat for lunch and dinner. And I need more ideas for when I go out on weekends. What do you guys eat at restaurants and what cocktails do you guys drink to save some calories? Thanks for any advice.

It's tough keeping the variety in a diet! I try and go on-line and find interesting ideas for meals. I'm pretty busy so sometimes that is hard to do. The best thing to do is to eat seasonal fruit and veggies. there always seems to be lots of receipes for whatever is in season. When I go out I make sure they don't give me bread because I will eat the whole basket and then ask the table next to me if they have any more in their basket!!!! I always have a salad with dressing on the side, you seem to eat less that way, or a clear broth soup. then when I order I just really try and not have anything fried, or sauteed. Fresh fish or chicken is always the first thing I go for, but every once in a while I need a steak! So go for the lean steak and replace the potatoes with more veggies. Another thing I do is when my meal comes I ask for the doggy bag/container and cut my portion in half and save it for tomorrow. Because if it is in front of me I will finish it off! Not much of a drinker but a friend of mine gets a white wine with seltzer and cranberry with a lime twist. It's tough eating out, just choose wisely and you should be fine!

Haha, I totally understand about the bread basket thing. And also good idea about saving the half portion for the next day. I have a bad habit of doing that but then finishing it off at home a couple hours later. I am going to try my hardest not to do that anymore. Also, are white wines more low-calorie? hmmm.

Practically anything you want can be made low calorie with a little thought, effort and portion control.

Some of my favorite meals are Curry, Chinese and Chilli, when you don't load them down with oils they become really quite sensible and just as tasty. (recipes available if needed)

I eat out every other week, Pizza, fish and chips, chinese, indian... I order whatever I want but still try to fairly estimate the calories. Don't care for alcohol so it's easy for me to keep my drinks honest with water.
