Weight-Loss milkless smoothie thing?

I don't know if I'm actually lactose intolerant, I get sick when I drink milk though. So what I want is something like a smoothie I can eat for breakfast. I walk my dog every day and every day I skip breakfast, walk, and end up eating something.... well we all know where this is going.

I know absolutely nothing about nutrition though and don't know what I need to put in it. I'm looking for something with a lot of fruit and whatnot. I just want something natural that I can drink as a quick blender made meal to eat before I walk my dog.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There's lots of smoothie recipes on the internet, with or without milk. Just google it. You could try substituting soy milk for the milk.

A banana, about 8 oz of orange juice, and a couple handfuls of frozen berries. Or substitute a different kind of juice and/or different frozen fruit. The banana is essential.

You could also add some whey or soy protein to this. Whey protein doesn't have lactose so it shouldn't bother you, but soy would be fine either way.

I just had a handful of raspberries frozen, 4 slices of frozen peach (both no sugar) 1/2 cup of organic plain yogurt and sweetened with Aquave nectar. It was very good and always fills me up. I normally add a banana but have none on hand right now.

It matters a little if you're actually lactose intolerant - if it's lactose intolerance you can actually use whey protein powder and/or yogurt in smoothies without a problem.

I personally like whey protein powder + frozen fruit + water for smoothies, and I know others who mix them with yogurt and water or fruit juice.

I find that as long as you're using a protein powder & frozen fruit you don't need the banana. You should get the thickening without it.

Or use lactose free milk or soy milk or almond milk or rice milk.

I personally find them too tart without a banana, but that's me. I also think the banana improves the texture.

Oooooh gotta love a tart smoothie :) I just had one!
Bananas are good for the milky texture, but I find their sweet favor can overpower anything else added in. If you want, you can try a water/juice (I use v8 fusion) + frozen fruit + leafy green, but make the majority of it fruit to keep it thick enough. So awesome lol.

Anywho, yes, soy, natural plain yogurt, protein powder are all great things to add as well!

I'll just add that a not-entirely-ready-for-eating banana will still provide texture and with muuuuch less taste and sweetness :)

I used to work at Jamba Juice and most of the smoothies I liked had no dairy. Strawberry, Banana, apple juice and ice was my favorite
