Hello!

I'm thankful to have found this board yesterday - I've discovered I do a lot better at whatever challenge I'm working through with support (even though I like to think I can do things myself --> but that gets me in trouble sometimes when I'm too stubborn to ask for help ;) ).

Anyway, I changed my life drastically over 7 years ago when I said goodbye to some dysfunctional living, people, and cigarettes (including an 18 year marriage).... and since then a lot has happened emotionally (some positive, a lot negative) as I continue to carve out my new life and niche.

I've been extremely challenged during these last 7 years, and during that time gained about 40 extra pounds. I've been in the process of redefining who I am (the new me that I left the old life for), what to keep, what to throw away, etc., and now wish to deal with the weight issue as part of *leaving the crap behind* once and for all.

I'm not necessarily following any particular program... Right now I'm just needing to add some things to my diet (or increase them, ike water!) and take some things away (or reduce them, like beer! :D ).

My biggest challenge is adding in EXERCISE. My work involves a lot of research, reading, writing, creating... much of that in front of the computer. So at this point in my life, I'm pretty sedentary and know I MUST change that. But boy am I resisting! :)

(Is there anybody in this group living in the Canton/Akron, Ohio area? If so, maybe we could keep ourselves accountable by becoming exercise buddies. PM me if you're interested!)

Any ideas, tips, or hints to get and keep motivated are welcome. As I just found this BB yesterday, I'm sure there's a wealth of information here already, so I'll continue to visit and read/post everyday as part of that motivation I need. Thanks all for being here!

Hi! Welcome to the group! Everyone here is so supportive I'm sure you will do great! If you havent' all ready done so you might want to start you a diary. That way you can keep track of your food, exercise , water or whatever and it's a good way to get alot of support and feedback on what you need to improve on etc. There is a challenge starting up tomorrow you might want to sign up!
Sorry I dont live near Canton, my husband delivers up there all the time(he is a truck driver). Good Luck! I'll check in and see how your doing!

Hi there! Glad you found us! We will all support you in any way we can! Sounds like you've got alot on your plate, but it also sounds like your a very strong woman, and thats fantastic! You'll be great here!

I live in Arlington Ohio...ever heard of it? Its outside of findlay, so I believe we are fairly close, but probalby not close enough to excersize together.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Good idea, Christinanva... I'll start one tomorrow to list whatever it is I do today. Knowing I have to post publicly what I do is a bit of motivation in itself LOL!

Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks, Newbride02, I will.

My plate has emptied a lot - much of my challenges have been or are being solved and taken care of (WHEW! It's been a roller coaster ride!)... That's why I'm now ready to start dealing with the weight issue - it's next on the list.

Just for fun, I looked up the distance between Canton and Findlay on mapquest... it's about 2 hours and 40 minutes away. :(

Oh well, it looks like I'll have exercise buddies right here online, if not in person, which can be just as good. ;)

Thanks for your welcome!

You will do great

:) We are all here to help and if you want to go through with losing than believe me the support you get from here will be most of the help you will ever need! You can do this! Another thing there are different excercises you can do at your desk. My favorite thing I been doing is dancing. You can do it before you go to bed or anywhere as long as you have music!:)

almost 3 hrs away? Wow, that really surprises me...oh well..you'll get the motivation you need right here!

Just wanted to stop in and say welcome and good luck. you've been successful overcoming other obstacles so I'm sure this one will be no different. We're all here for whatever help you need. :)

Yeah, I've done the dancing thing too, but it's hard to keep myself going 30+ minutes -- I guess it's not quite my favorite like it is yours, although at times, it's absolutely perfect. :)

(I've wanted to tell you since yesterday that besides your BB name, your pic even reminds me of Gretchen Wilson!)

Thanks for your support!

Good point, Coastergirl4...

It's so funny how I've not tapped into that thought process until reading what you wrote!!!! And you know what? I've lost 40 pounds before!!!! Back when I was 20...

Then I lost 30 pounds of weight gain after my first baby at 22, then lost 50 pounds weight gain after my second baby at 25 (my son Chris who's in Iraq right now :( )...

So, you're absolutely right. I can do it, I've done it before. I realize it may be a bit tougher for me now that I'm middle aged and have developed a fondness for beer (used to be black coffee), but just having you trigger my memory like that helps me believe more in myself again.

I appreciate it!

Aw I'm so glad to hear that I could help. You CAN do it, and I'm sure you WILL. You've already done a great thing and are off to a great start by coming on here and posting for support. That alone is to be commended.

I strongly suggest starting a diary on the site (just a suggestion though). I know that if nothing else, it at least keeps you honest with yourself.

Let me tell you, I'm only 21 and it doesn't feel any easier. LOL!
