Hi everyone! I'm new here. I have been steadily gaining a bit too much weight my whole life and I forgot to stop I guess, I'm approaching 230 now and my 26th birthday is at the end of July. I'd like to get back down to something healthier. I like photos of me where I weighed 170, but in terms of goals I think I also am interested in just feeling healthier and using my body better. Exercise is a difficult point since I generally don't like to leave my home and I have a small living space. I'll be starting a diary and hopefully being involved here, the last time I lost weight (for prom) was very successful because I had a forum to support me and I could support others. Boy I ate a lot of cheese sticks during those months.

I'm excited to get to know some of you!

Welcome to the forum :)

Glad to have you here and really like your approach with your goals... health and how you feel is really the most important thing, and something I am trying to focus on myself, even more than a number on the scale.

Hey Tara, welcome to the forum! You are starting right, I find a diary to be a great help.

That's a great goal, and you should start feeling better not long after getting started. Cheese sticks aren't all bad, but like any other food too much can be.

I look forward to reading about your progress!

Thank you for the welcome! I'm happy to be here

Thanks! It's a struggle to focus on for sure, but if I don't change my mindset I'll never like myself o_O

Thank you! I agree, I liked them at the time of course but I definitely wore myself out and didn't have great balance in my diet. I was just trying to minimize calories

Welcome!

You’ve got some good goals. I’ll make sure I’ll check out your diary.
Thank you very much! I try~

Hello - they say and I know - the space you need for a workout can be your arm span - squats, chair dips, knee raises, crunches, press-ups and so on are limited space exercises - throw in a resistance band and your rocking — but would recommend NOT over tracking yourself -take some measurements of wAist / hips/ thigh and arms and most important set a visual goal (clothing is usually best for this) and a DATE to achieve - but look forward to following your progress

Thank you for the advice! I definitely want to limit how often I weigh myself, even though it's an easy option for measurable "progress." I have been discouraged by the scale in the past and hope to avoid that this time by using size measurements instead, especially since I do want a little muscle to grow! I'm definitely going to see about getting a resistance band to help with my exercise.
