men jean size

Hello

I have been reading that it takes roughly 10 pounds to move down one jean size (varies depending on body, but it is usually 10 pounds)

Jean sizes here in uk come in increments of 2. e.g 38, 36, 34

So what exactly is moving down one jean size?

38 to 37

or

38 to 36

That seems like a horribly inaccurate fact.

Someone going from 220lbs to 200lbs may not even see a change in pant size (I didn't)

But someone going from 130lbs to 120lbs may lose 2 pant sizes.

It's all relative to you personally and how much you weighed to start. Most likely, the smaller you become the less weight you will need to lose to see results.

Don't get to caught up by generalities.

This really is going to be different for everyone of course as it depends where you lose weight from. I was wearing 38 waist jeans at 223lbs. Now at 201lbs 36 dont fit me (too loose) and 34 dont fit me (too tight) its a bit of a pain.

When I dropped from 223 to maybe 210 36inch jeans fit me. Since then the majority of the weight I have lost has been off my arms and chest.

As the chef above colorfully points out, if you are filled with hot air you might drop a jean size just by letting rip :D

Well, since all I wear is Levi's 501's, 1 size, equals 2 inches, eg. 38 to 36.

BTW (just to brag, more than anything else ;)) October 09', I was wearing size 40's, that were stretched as far as humanly possible, and were still trying to flip over / down, at the waist line + cutting into me big time ! In other words, I really needed 42"s. 9 months later, I'm wearing 34 comfortably ;)

Oh, and now (below size 34) my 501's are available in half sizes 33"s, 31"s....

But I doubt that will ever matter. As my jeans (after washing) are starting to get tighter on my thighs, which are getting bigger from muscle now, before they are tight on my waist. Geeez, I haven't had that problem for about 27 years ! :)

I'm even thinking that I might have to go to a different style jeans (looser legs) to be able to keep wearing 34"s.

Peace,
Fish

You can't go by jean size to determine weight loss. You have to do overall measurements to see where you're losing weight. Some people may lose all the weight in their chest area, or face so it will not effect their pants size. The first place you gain weight is usually the last place you will lose.

Skinny guys with beer guts is a good example. That is the first place they gained weight so it is the first place they will lose.

38 > 37 would be one inch loss, I would assume?

At the beginning of my weight loss i had a 38-40 with around 95kg.
Now at around 75kg i have a 30-32. =)
So 20kg lost and about 8 inches or about 4 sizes smaller.
I consider 2 inch = 1 size.
So for me it was 1 size smaller every 5 kg (about 10 pounds) :D
