Massage Therapy and being overweight

Hey everyone,

I made an appointment yesterday for this evening - I'm going to be getting my first theraputic massage. It's something that I've always wanted to try but I'm a little nervous. I have some questions:

- will they have a robe to fit me (I'm about a size 18/20 in ladies).
- will the therapist be able to perform the techniques effectively?

Has anyone else had these same concerns? Just curious.

Thanks,
Wendy

the girlfriend of a buddy of mine is a massage therapist - and has clients in all shapes and sizes.. she doesn't supply robes, but does have a sheet on the massage table and has various size sheets for clients of various sizes.

For some high end salons, that have massages and such, you can always bring your own robe in if you're concerned - or give them a call ahead of time and ask...

Hi Wimic

I used to see a message therapist on a regular basis. I am pretty large on the top and about your size on the bottom. The therapist had a couple of larger gowns that she would hold for me so that they would be available and she never had a being able to be effective in her treatment and she was a tiny little thing, about 5'1 and a size 0.

If you have a good therapist no matter what the size they can still treat you well and perform their techniques.

I notice my reply is a little after the fact, so update us on how it went.
