Making it back to the Grid Iron(football field)...

I guess I should give a brief history of myself and my goal.

I'm a 19 year old man. I am 6'6" and weigh in at about 275 lbs.

While in highschool I played Tight End for my football team. 4 Games into my Junior year of football I was kicked out of highschool. I had division 1 colleges scouting me. Though I delt with serious substance abuse problems aswell as a lot of other issues. I've now found a new way of life and have been given a second chance at life. I have to get back into playing shape and give this football thing another shot. So, today is the day. Things are finally falling in place, allowing me to start training again. I plain on loosing around 30-35 lbs. fat.

I will be starting on the weight watchers diet to begin my weight loss. That is my biggest focus as of now. I want to drop major weight before I really start focusing on my muscle mass. If anyone has some tips or experience, please feel free to add their 2 cents. I would grealty appreciate it.

I hope to be back on the field being scouted/playing in 6-9 months.

This should be interesting.....

First of all, Congratulations on you're attitude and lifestyle change, I commend you and wish you the best.

Good news is, 6 - 9 months is PLENTY of time to get this done.

Weight watchers although isn't the best choice, it has worked for people. With regular cardio and weight training, you can get to where you wanna be.

Start with 30 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week (if you can't make 30, do what you can, then up it 5 minutes every other week). Increase this by 5 minutes every week until you get some endurance up, then it may be time to try some interval training and higher intensity stuff.

Search the forums for some basic weight training tips and routines. Try to train with weights 3 times a week, increasing intensity when you want to get into playing shape.

For real man..MANY MANY congrats for getting off of those substances. Those things get the best of you and tear it all away. I should know. Before I joined the military, I would do almost anything that was there in front of me...and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. So good job.

All you need is dedication and a good workout/eating routine, and you will be back crackin skulls on the field in no time. Keep your head up (unless you are going for a bone crushing hit...haha)

Had a small bowl of high fiber and protein cereal this morning with soy milk(is skim better?) with some sliced up strawberries in it.

Did 30 minutes of cardio this morning with some shoulder exercises.

I'll also be doing 30 more minutes of cardio tonight with a chest and bicep routine.

Feels good to be back, getting healthy again.

I also had a strawberry shake, strawberries, yogurt, pomagrainien(however u spell it) juice, and bananas in it. Had it after the cardio.

Then I just had some carrots with cucumbers and some veggie dip.

Probably go with some boneless chicken and rice tonight.

How's this sound for the daily routine to start with, only switching the eating and muscle I work out......

For dinner I had 2 slices of watermelon with 2 avacado and mushroom wraps.

The wraps consisted of two wheat wraps with fresh avacado mashed into guac(no additives) with sauted portebello mushrooms, lettuce, sliced chicke, and a vinagrette based dressing.

Later I had two turkey sandwhiches on wheat bread. turkey, mayo, lettuce, and wheat bread.

About to do my last cardio session for the day.

50 minutes of cardio for the past two days.....

I'm thinking of adding in an additional 20 minutes on the rower after I get done with the treadmill.....

Still eating real good, watching the calorie intake compare to how much I burn....

Already feeling healthier...

Oh yeh, I didn't mention.......I'm also in the process of quitting cigarettes right now to.....after I stopped sports I just went to ****....

Alright, let's keep it going.

Ok, so it's Friday Sept. 15.....Been one week of training so far.

I've lost 6 pounds. Had weigh in this morning.

Alreayd feeling better and looking better.

Well, it's still going really well.

I did a very intense 70 minute cardio session today on the treadmill aswell as on the rowing machine. Signing up for the gym within a week I'd say.

Weigh in is tomorrow morning.

I also talked to my old highschool football head coach the other day, and he generously offered his help in gettin me scouted and letting his college contacts know about me, and that I'm back. Once I get really in shape and ready, we're going to make a tape to send out....

Damn, it's really coming true.

I'll get some pictures up in here tomorrow or over the weekend.

Ok so I'm half way into week 4 and I've dropped 10 pounds so far.

I've upped my cardio incredibly....I can now run(not jog) for 20 minutes easy. I run for around 2 & 1/2 miles and then walk the rest to 4 miles on the tredmill at high speed walk.

I'm now starting up my lifting routine aswell.

Things are going very well.
