Maca
I'm a personal trainer, and I just started using maca. As a trainer, I have to work out and eat well (i'm sure no one would hire an out-of-shape trainer for weightloss/strength training advice). Even though I take care of myself, I found myself gaining weight uncontrollably (about 25 lbs. in one year). My strength had decreased dramatically, no libido, irregular periods with horrible PMS, and mood swings, among other symptoms. My doctor told me my cortisol levels were high; too much stress in my life. Currently I have had a close relative pass away within the last 3 years, bought a house, started my PT career, and am planning a wedding. Also going to school for Physical Therapy.
So, I did some research and decided to try maca root powder. I've only been taking it for a few days, but I am no longer retaining as much water, and my family has noticed I'm returning to my old self. I'm going to keep using it @ recommended dosage for a few months, and hopefully it will reset my hormone production for a while. I recommend trying it, as there are no known side effects if the dosage remains within 3000-5000 mg per day. I've also been taking and iodine supplement.
I haven't had my daily sweets craving, followed by my daily salty cravings. I have more energy, my thinking is clearer. It's great.
