lower stomach?

whats the best way to lose fat in your lower stomach? I run like 5 miles every day, eat healthy, yda yda yda, and still nothing. someone told me it might because im not eating enough could this be true? whats the best way to lose fat in your lower stomach? Thanks, Sean.

Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this but you can't spot reduce. What that means is that you can't pick where the fat is going to be removed from when you lose it. So if you want to lose fat in your lower stomach, you will need to lose fat from your entire body.

Let me start with a couple of questions and we will go from there. First, what is your body fat %? This number is very important in figureing out what to work on. Second, Height/weight numbers? Third, diet? What does a typical day of eating look like for you? Number of calories and their breakdown?

Give us those numbers and I am sure we can tailor something to better fit you.

I don't know my body % fat, how can I find it out? I'm guess go to my doctors? ;) my height is 5' 9" and I weigh about 123 or so. It's not like its alot of fat I just have a little in my lower stomach and I just want to get ride of it so I you can see my lower abs better you know? third not sure, i'm only 17 years old. I dont record all this I eat real well but from time to time like once or month or so I might have some junk food but i run it off... so I dunno thanks alot, Sean.

yeah but its hard to find the time to get the gym most of the time bec i go to school then I got to work... =/

Apparantly the school part hasn't helped with the whole spelling thing. :p

Why is that? Because I didn't want to spell out words, and I was in a rush when I was typing that... so it didn't come out correct?

You might have poor posture that is causing you to stand incorrectly and making you look like you have a potruding gut. I doubt at your weight you are carrying excess fat. What is your waist measurement?

yeah i know i have a little bad posture, and im not sure of my watse size i will get back to u on that when i get the time to messure it. one more question whats the best way to tone and gain abs?

I would say do crunches for now. It is a simple exercise to learn and you should see changes quite quickly. At a later date you might want to try something else but for now this will do very nicely.

You are doing too many too often. It's no wonder you have no time to go to the gym.
You only need to train them 1-3 times a week.
Make sure your lower back is flat to the floor all the time. Keep the tension on them
How many reps in a set are you doing?
I would think 100 reps max in a set is plenty.
Are you doing them slowly?
Do you use any weights while crunching?

HOJy.
Find a full length mirror.
Stand side on to it
lift your chest as if you are a very proud soldier
shoulders slightly back but held down
head back
chin down
the underside of your nose should be paralel to the floor
slightly tense the muscles in your pelvic area (just above your genitals
Is there any flab showing now?
You look better already don't you?
Well that's what you will look like when you correct your posture.
The six pack will probably be the easy bit but it wont look half as impressive if you walk and stand with poor posture.

Have u tried ab workouts w/ a stability ball. They target a lot more and are a bit harder 2 do. Look into some pilates exercises too ... they often target the abdominal area. Try for some great exercises.
And, it sounds like you need to slow down your ab workout. If u are doing more than 20-30 in one set, u r either going 2 fast or u need 2 find a more challenging exercise.

The stablility ball is one of the BEST tools you can use to increase your core strength. If you get a chance, go to the book store and find " Abs on the ball" by Colleen Craig. She can give you bunch of pilate-like exercises to do on the ball.

For more challenging ab exercises I would add resistance to your workout. As AllCdnBoy wrote, if you can do 20-30 reps easily, something needs to change. Hanging abs, medicine balls, and rope pulldowns are all good examples of adding some resistance to your exercises. Good luck in great abs!
