Lower body question! help please

walking is very good to help tighten and tone the butt area.

Alright, thank you.

Is there anything that you can do inside? The weather has been very bad lately so I can't walk outside.

Do you have an eliptical I heard that is good for the booty? You can also try front lunges squats they don't only work your legs but booty as well,Tammy:)

Ok, get on all fours (yes you can do it on your bed). Lift one knee off the floor (mat, bed, whatever) and push it out behind you. Do that for each leg and you should feel some major butt action. :)

What kinds of excercises can one do to lose flab on the lower part of their body? (butt)

I thought the consensus that the only thing to remove fat was reduction in calories... toning was not possible.

you can firm up the muscles under the fat but fat doesn't turn into muscle...

I agree with Mal here! You cannot spot reduce. You can work the muscle under the fat, but you can't reduce fat in that one area!

You may want to check out your diet. Make sure you are eating a clean diet and reducing the caloric intake while increasing your activity!.

Good luck with your goals!

I do not have an eliptical. Thanks though. I've been trying not to eat as bad as I used to. I can't tell you when the last time was that I had chocolate. I just finished eating a grilled chicken sandwich... are those ok?

I went to the Y today and did sit-ups and ran on the tredmill. I definitely felt the burn.

depends on the amount of calories in that grilled chicken - some restaurants willl use a lot of oil while griling... if you're trying to lose body weight - it's helpful to keep track of calories...

and just for the record - chocolate isn't the enemy - there's no reason why you can't ave chocolate as part of your eating plan

I have chocolate as part of my eating plan.

Every evening, when we're watching TV before bed, I'll have a little piece (less than half an ounce) of luxury dark chocolate. Sometimes I don't really want it, but I always think, "No, you put it on your food plan, you've got to eat it now."

:D :D :D

exercises for the behind region

any kind of movement is great exercise, so if you cant walk outside, walk inside, dance , just move , it will make you feel great!! keep us posted on how you are doing ok

I might start to participate in yoga classes every Tuesday at the Y. I hear that yoga's excellent. Is that true?

I've been called "tubby" by my boyfriend. I'm sure that he was joking and didn't say it to be mean but it made me think. He eats well and isn't as picky as me and it makes me hate that I am picky.

I hardly ever eat chocolate. Sometimes I'll have some hot chocolate though because I get cold easily. I used to drink it a lot but I've definitely slimmed it down.

I just want to get a nice stomach. :( ...

spot reducing is bunk.

If you can spot reduce, there will be lots of fat men with six packs. :D

Go on a diet and up your physical activity. Concentrate on lower body exercises.

If only it were so easy......

I am sure I am not alone in dreaiming there were easy answers to questions like yours. Changing ones body is never as easy as doing a little of this exercise and eating less of that. One thing I have come to discover is that the process of change is exactly that, a process. Saying you wont eat chocolate means nothing is you eat all sorts of other high calorie/fat foods as well. Chocolate, eaten within reason can be less harmfull and fattening than eating salads all day long using bad dressings. For example, a McDonalds salad with the standard dressing they provide is higher in fat and bad stuff than a Big mac.... Go figure. So cutting out Chocolate but still eating fast food 4 times a week is not going to solve anything. Nor is eating vegetables all day, but still guzzling 2 liters of coke while watching movies at night.

The best thing to do is look at the overall picture. A lot of the diaries here show exactly what I am talking about as people begin to discover that there is more to this whole weight loss game than doing a little more of this and eating a little less of that. In the big picture forget spot reducing, as mentioned here before, it is a myth. Instead look at your whole life and see if the changes you want are going to be worth the changes you will have to make.

Good luck to you and you have made a great start by coming here. Read some of the stickies and forum posts made by others and you may well find the answers you are seeking. Maybe then your boyfriend will call you drop dead gorgeous instead of tubby....

;)

Your boyfriend shouldn't be saying things even in a "joke". You'd be a lot "lighter" with out him.
