Sport Low carb diet

Sport Fitness
hellooo.

Im a type 1 diabetic and im looking for a low carb diet. Im currently on a cut and trying to get my body fat % down. I visit the gym twice a week for cardio and I do weights 3/4x a week. To help control my diabeties im told a low carb diet will help and will also help reduce my weight.

Could anyone please reccomend a low carb diet or make a list of the foods I should eat for breakfast/dinner/tea/snacks

Thanks for reading~

In simplest terms you should eat lean meats, non-fat dairy products, eggs, nuts, vegetables and fruit; no starch, no sugar.

Each meal/snack should consist of a protein source and a fruit or vegetable. A typical days food might look like this:

3 eggs, half grapefruit
4 oz nuts, banana
salad, tuna
cottage cheese, apple
steak, broccoli
yogurt, strawberries

a low carb diet would probably contain a lot more fat than that.. fat ain't the enemy.

I don't know if I'd advise type 1 diabetic to do a low carb diet that leads to ketosis (if this is what you want to do).. you'd have to be very careful with your blood ketone levels, making sure they don't get too high. As a type 1 diabetic your body won't regulate ketone production the way non diabetics do.. too high levels of ketones in the blood is not a good thing, but being a diabetic, you probably know that.

Diabetes is kind of close to my heart. There are a lot of diabetic cook books out there that you could pick up from any bookstore, but I did find a Diabetic Gourmet Magazine online that you can check out. I can't post the link because I'm new, but you can type it into Google.

Hopefully some of the links will be helpful.

Thanks for the replys. Just a little story - When I was in hospital when I got diagnosed with type 1 diabeties I had key tones but I was fine so they let me go and as soon as I got home I had a big meal and they went to 0.0 Lol.
