Sport lost my appetite

Sport Fitness
I'm not sure why, normally I have a ravenous appetite. Losing my appetite is very unusual for me. I LOVE to eat. Often. In fact, I've put on about 10 pounds since I last posted. It was my New Year's resolution to get back in shape and stop eating junk. But the past 3 days... nothing sounds good. Nothing tastes good. I've just had bites here and there.

Does anyone else ever feel like this? Maybe it has something to do with starting a new brand of birth control pills. What do you do to keep your blood sugar levels stable...and to keep your metabolism going? Forcefeed yourself some protein shakes? I took some vitamins today, that's about it. I don't feel "sick" -- just not hungry.

I would just try to eat some lean meat and vegetables. Im gonna try out a new Broccoli Beef Stir Fry recipe later.

Welcome back, havent seen you in awhile.

Thanks! Yeah I've been having all sorts of problems, so I gave up working out for a while. I want to get back into it, just haven't found enough motivation or energy.

Lean meat doesn't sound good either. Maybe some veggies. Asparagus sounds good. :) But I have to have the butter sauce over it, sorry. :D

i feel the same sometimes too...but you need to be careful about not eating because a couple of months ago i felt the same (i just wasnt interested in it) and i started exercising and i ended up collapsing and being rushed to hospital (i dont mean to scare you in anyway but if your planning to work out on a empty stomach dont do it!)

ive posted my own thread about when i collapsed...you could check it out because some people have left me really great advice about eating etc....hope you feel better soon...

ps. the thread is called 'i collapsed while working out' ( probaly guessed that anyway :p)

Thanks, I checked it out.. sounds like you were dehydrated, which causes a drop in blood pressure -- combine that with exercise, increased resp rate, and down you will go. I've had neurocardiogenic syncope since I had Mono in 2000, so I understand the feeling -- it SUCKS! Mine is very controlled though, I get nauseated first, so the first sign of nausea, I sit down and put my feet up. I've never reached the point of fainting, I just see stars and my vision goes dark.

I won't be exercising for a while though, I have to have some more tests first. I think the last I updated here, I said they were testing me for leukemia... well they didn't actually have to test me for it, my blood count returned to normal after about 2 weeks. A normal blood count pretty much rules out leukemia. I'm having an autoimmune "flare up" of some sort, and the arthritis can be darn near crippling some days. I'm supposed to have a bone scan (just to evaluate the severity of the arthritis), and once that's cleared, I will start exercising again. Right now I just don't have the energy. My hair is falling out at an alarming rate, I don't want to do anything to add more stress my body.

I'm sure (well, I hope) my appetite will return, probably just something hormonal. In the meantime, I'll graze on what I can and keep taking my vitamins. I'm still taking in fluids, so I'm not dehydrated. Maybe I'll grab some Ensure shakes until my appetite comes back. That should be adequate, I think.

Sometimes I feel like this if I'm getting sick with a cold or something. I still try to get all my meals in though.

Finally -- after 3 days of no appetite and about 5 pounds of water loss, my appetite is back! Now to start planning my meals better....

could be more mental than anything. i sometimes use l-tyrosine to help when it feels like I am burning out.
1000mg once a day usually works on me.

Hey everyone, I figured out what was causing my loss of appetite. CLARITIN! The 24-D kind (contains a decongestant). I had been taking it for those 3 days that I complained of no appetite. My appetite returned once it was out of my system. I tried it again just to be sure, and sure enough... the days I take Claritin, I will have no hunger whatsoever. Interesting. I'm sure that side effect would disappear with regular use, but I only take it when I know that I'll be around cats. ha! Anyway, just thought I'd update. Hope you're all doing well.
