Losing weight if you're broke?

So I'm going to start this off with, I'm pretty broke. I work part time, have a kid, and several animals that need my money more than I do. So I can afford $20 a week... Help?

Some of my info:

19 and Female
250ish lbs. ish because it fluctuates around that number.
5'4"
I don't exactly know my body fat %
My diet is currently just whatever's available. I've recently cut out sodas and it's been headache after headache so now I'm drinking a lot of sweet tea so I helped nothing.
I don't exercise other than farm work, my job which I exercise horses and take care of them, and chasing around a toddler. I would literally have to never sleep again to find time to go to a gym, which i DO NOT have the money for not to mention how embarrassing it is.

Other random facts, I hate water. I don't care what you say, I don't like it. Fruit and vegetables here are very expensive and absolute crap. I got a thing of strawberries the other day and had to throw it out the day after because they molded. I'm surprised the bananas made it 2 days. We have cheap meat here. Not veggies. Which could explain the obesity state wide...

If anyone wants to help me figure this out I would really appreciate it.

Hi Misty,

Firstly welcome. Unfortunately you’re likely to get a lot of advice; most of which won’t work for you. What I’ve found is you have to do it your way. Find what works for you and enjoy it.

Not knowing where you are it’s hard to give suggestions; it sounds like you live regionally which often means obesity and mmental health issues abound however this doesn’t have to be the case. Are you able to walk with the toddler in a stroller?

Realistically the benefit you would get from joining a gym is probably minimal anyway. I’ve been a member before. One gym I paid and got great results. It was a gym and a pool combined but that was when I was young (about your age actually and very very active) but the second time I paid and NEVER went. Gyms are good for some people but honestly ... you don’t need them. I have a few resistance bands I use at home and the rest of my exercise comes from walking and cycling. Would this work for you?

Good luck!

Hi Misty
Welcome to the forum!

I agree with Truffle, you have to find what works for you and where you are now (regionally, financially, emotionally).

Small changes can have a big impact over time :)
