Losing Weight By Running.

ive recently joined a gym, ive been going about a week and a few days now, i strted off doing 5 minz on a treadmill, but i have now knocked it up to 10 minz as i now feel that i can do it, im wundering when ill start losing weight, im now 184lb andn im 17 yr old which is depressing, im quite tall (hight not known) which makes me not look as big, i also do weights and crunches etc, i really dont know what to eat either, if any 1 can tell me if im doing good and should keep going on or make some changes..

P.S: I do fitness 1 day (running, bike, crunches etc) and fitness and weight lifting the next day.

Im only a little older than you, 19, so I'll share some of my experiences.

In October of 2005 I weighed 190 pounds (I'm 5'11"). Now, in May, I weigh 151 pounds. How did I do it? By running! (and eating well) For the first three months I ran 3 miles a day and I now run about 4 1/2 miles a day.

Now, you certainly don't need to run 4-5 miles a day to see results. But you DO need to run a lot longer than 10 minutes. If running for longer than 10 minutes wears you out, then slow down. A brisk walk for 35 minutes is WAY better (in terms of weight loss) than sprinting for 10 minutes. So try slowing down your running, and doing it for longer periods of time. You probably won't like me for saying this, but it really needs to be longer than 30 minutes. Don't be afraid to start with a brisk walk. Gradually, you'll build up the endurance to run faster (and longer). If you stick with it, I absolutely guarantee you will see results.

Patience is the key! Know where you want to get, and use that image as daily motivation.
 
I am 16 and cant stand too run on the tread mill now try running outside once it might be easier for you.......it was me and i just run and drink over 80 oz of water a day and do pushups and crunches and i am loosing 3-4lbs a week and i went from 160 too 140 quick so now in a few weeks i will be switching it up and trying too gain weight in muscle instead of fat like i did the first time!!!!
