Losing Speed....

I'm a beginning runner. I have high hopes of running the Las Vegas Half-Marathon in December, but I have a long way to go before that is realistic.

I've been tracking my progress for a couple of months now and have been improving quickly untill about two weeks ago. Temperatures here hit 95 and have been steadily rising, and my speed and endurance have been steadily declining. I run indoors on a treadmill most of the time, so the temp is a constant 80 now. I have my suspicions but am looking for confirmation....is my decline in speed and endurance due to the rising temps? As summer wears on but indoor temps remain at 80, will I see improvement come back or am I doomed until November when it finally starts to cool off around here? I'm feeling discouraged right now:( .

I believe that the heat is a factor in your slowing down. Heat has been clinically proven to make a person more lax and less willing to get around and move.

I know that having extremely warm temperatures also cause your body to slow down due to wanting to just relax and stay cool (as running will heat your body up even more).

Just make sure you are drinking a ton of water, getting 8-10+ hours of sleep everynight, getting proper nutrition, and stretch a lot.

If you do that you will be just fine :)
