Here is the situation. I am a really small and skinny guy, 5'7" 140 pounds and 29 years old. In the last two or three months I have made an entirely new commitment to getting myself eating better and in shape. I am lifting Monday, Wednesday, Friday and doing cardio Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
I am starting to see some changes in my arms and upper body, but here is my issue. I have a little bit of the 'skinny guy gut' syndrome. I really don't have an ounce of fat anywhere else, but I do in my belly and lower abdomen. I'm sure some truly larger people would want to smack me for concerning so much over this little 'gut', but the truth of the matter is, genetically I see this gut in both my mother and grandmother, and it just increases over time! I want this thing to go away and never come back!
What I don't understand though, is how to make this happen while eating enough calories to gain muscle in all of these other skinny ass places! Everything I read says that to lose belly fat you essentially need to burn off more calories than you eat and adhere to a super strict cardio regimen. I feel as if I did that, I have would have absolutely NO chance putting on muscle in my upper body, arms, and legs. I'm not looking to get all jacked up and crazy big, I would look ridiculous like that. BUT I am tired of being the skinniest guy I know and want more strength for golf and softball and frankly want to look better for my wife on the beach.
All you guru's out there, please tell me what you would recommend. How can I lose belly fat while gaining mass elsewhere? Is this even possible? I was told I need to eat 2,200 calories a day to even maintain my weight, and truth is I am not a huge eater and very rarely even come close to exceeding that. I suppose I can post pictures if that will somehow help someone determine the best course of action for me. Any advice is very much appreciated!! :action3:
