Losing fat around waste/sides... cant

Ive always been very very skinny.. all the way up through my teens.. at 18 i was 6 foot 1 and around 150 pounds..

finally at 20 i started to pick up a little weight.. working out actually started to do SOMETHING..

well now im 24, and 211 pounds..

and overall im not even close to what you would call "fat" or even chunky..

ive managed to get a good build, nice upper body, chest.. and legs.

but my stomach looks like crap! i cant get good abs.. i seem to have like.. a belt of fat around my waste.. that i cant shake..

Currently im doing the following After work (5pm)

2 mile run/walk
light weight, lots of reps...

and im also on a diet.. I talke Chromium Picolinate to help curb my hunger, so i eat 1 subway type sandwitch per-day..

I also take a mulivitamin..

Im perfectly happy with the rest of my body as of right now.. but this stupid "bacon belt" is pissing me off to no end

what type of exercise/pills/streatching/whatever really targets this area well to help me shed this crap..

its so frusterating because i can EASLY see major progress in the rest of my body after just 1 week of this diet and excercise regimine.. but the bacon belt hangs on and refuses to admit defeat...

thanks for any help!!

Try working your abs+obliques hard as hell one day a week with heavy weights and dont do any crunches or anything on the other days. Give them time to rest and theyll grow. For me personally, i had to get my abs to grow before they would devour the fat in front of them

hmmm, never thought of that. i guess that makes sense though.. build the muscle nearest the fatty area...

ill give that a try. Thanks.

Are you saying you only eat 1 sandwich a day? If so thats too little. If you don't put enough food into your body your body will think there isnt enough food and therefore it isn't as willing to let go of fat. You need to eat about 5 meals a day, 1 every 3 hours.

The basic rule to lose fat is that you have to burn more cals then you take in, but it cant be too many more. If it is it will actually slow your results, and cause muscle loss. And remember, muscle burns more cals then fat.

read that.

Nice abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. You can do crunches all day long but they wont show if theres a blanket of fat over them.

Also if you want to boost your metabolism (burn more cals).Try HIIT (high intensity interval training) Just do a search for it, Im sure you'll find plenty.

some fat on your body takes longer to burn off than other places ie: you can lose all the weight in your face before fat around your stomach. u just have to stick with it ....

do ab/oblique exercises ..... oblique exercises can help a little with stomach tone .. becuase u usually have less fat on your sides than your front middle area. but u still need to burn the fat over ur stomach to see complete results.

just stick at it ... itll come.
hiit is also good ...as ne one would recommend it.

Update:

since orignal post ive lost almost all the fat ive needed to, im getting alot more defined stomach ("6 pack") and all is going well.. and all ive really been doing is eating a little less and run/walking 2 miles per day and adding in left lifts and crunches into my usual workout..

going pretty damng well so far

hahahaha

well, its a work in progress still.. but its definatly progress.. i havent had this low of body fat in about 5 years.. so im more than pleased.. and it just makes me want to work harder at it

you'll get there.

I was very serious for years, trained, was a trainer and managed a gym but the past few years I really lost it. I started back 11 weeks ago and have lost 21 lbs., hired a nutrtionist and a trainer. I used Shredded Singer as my username for the purpose of visualization. I will soon be the shredded singer!!!

I actually have the same problem you do, only I weigh 165 lbs (5'10) and I have a very muscular body. The problem with my body is that my stomach area has a lot of extra meat that doesn't belong there and I could attribute it to the long hours I spend sitting in front of my computer- even though I spend time everyday doing crunches. Hence, I just started doing intense cardio workouts and I'm already beginning to see some results (as my stomach area feels somewhat harder- although it has only been 2-3 days). I just hope I can get a 6 pack within a few weeks and get rid of all this unnecessary fat around my stomach. Any thoughts? Will this take long? BTW... I eat very healthy as I intake plenty of protein and limit my fat and carb intake during the day (fat to around 10-15g and carbs to around 100g).

UPDATE:

well, now im at a stalemate ... since my last post.. thats right.. july of 04.. little progress has been made..

ive taken to using an ab slide, lef lifts, crunches, situps.. doing them every day, doing them once a week.. and everything inbetween. i still have .. pudge below my belly button.. that seems.. literally completely uneffected by anything..

i eat very little fat, just protien, vitamins.. etc etc.. nothing really fatty at all..

im more or less totally at a loss at this point, it seems hopeless..

somebody told my i might have a "cortisol" (???) problem.. and that there is stuff for that.. but i dont know anything about that stuff.

Abs are made in the kitchen. YOu need fat, carbs, and protein to drop body fat to see your 6-pack. Include healthy fats like nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds), natural PB, olive & canola oils in your daily diet. Look around on some recent posts regarding losing body fat, abs, clean diets, etc. and you'll get some ideas.

Basically, if you don't have a well-balanced, clean diet, all the exercise and crunches in the world aren't going to get you a 6-pack.

If it is a cortisol problem, the best thing I can recommend is to cut down stress in your life and get 8-9 hours of sleep a night, when you can.

There are also cortisol inhibitors/blockers, but better to attack the root of the problem than to temporarily bandage it. (If stress is the problem, because Cortisol is a stress hormone, then after the cortisol inhibitors, the stress will still be there and you'll have wasted your money).

I have no scientific evidence to back this up whatsoever at the moment, but I recall hearing that over-consumption of simple sugars can contribute to fat storage specifically around the midsection. Fat can be good for you - it depends quite a bit on your carb sources as well.

hmmm... Is this diet plan for the SERIOUS trainer that lifts heavy, heavy weights every day and consumes 200 grams of protein, glutamine, etc.? Me, I do heavy weights and workout 2 bodyparts a day and then run.

I tried the 1 sandwich a day diet like chunkymunky and I got REALLY cut and and saw muscles that were hidden behind a layer of fat for over a decade. It didn't last however, as I reverted back to my old eating habits and worked out much less or not at all. Burnout I guess. For the last month, Ive been trying to eat nothing but natural foods (with the occasional Mountain Dew) and eating throughout the day in small meals and more cardio than anything and the going is definitley slower, but Im cutting up slowly but surely, I feel.

In essence, Spockafina, since you seem to know so much, is this the diet plan of someone much more concerned with being cut and slender than someone shooting for a Van Damme body or to a greater extent, Swarzenegger?
