Well before I get started I just want to give a bit of background as to how this post came to be ….I saw a pro ana documentary (or pro anorexia) I didnt even know this movement existed ...

I figured I could help some of the girls/boys who were having body image issues by sharing how I lost weight the HEALTHY way by choosing what I ate carefully instead of starving myself… I expected a bit of backlash but I also thought I could help somebody … in the end the thread was closed after it pretty much went viral and people where ranting about it … one bit of advice they said to me was post this in a dieting forum maybe there ill be more welcomed there … so I figured why not … in not here to judge anyone im just sharing what help me lose weight without putting my health at risk I hopes it can help someone out there

I just wanted to post this because I gained a bit of weight in college enough to be bothered by it ... it bothered me specially when people where saying i was getting fat specially since my family has always been skinny... i never cared much about appearance so i didnt pay much attention ... however deep inside i wanted to lose the weight ...

so first thing first ... im not a doctor so consult one in doubt

a) fiber rich foods are your new best friends... meaning lentils , beans, garbanzos, peas (which are not beans but are rich in fiver etc...this one do help your colon digest food faster and lose weight

tip: if you dont have time to cook buy caned beans and do a bean salad

I would recommend low sodium organic caned beans, followed by low sodium non organic beans, finally simple put beans that use ONLY sodium as a preservative … I wouldn’t buy anything that has any chemicals that you are not familiar with as a preservative unless you do your research first and are sure this chemicals won’t affect your health

B) salad if your second best friend... eat raw for higher fiber content the idea is to consume as much fiver as posible as that helps you burn extra fat... tip avocados are not only delicious and full of omega 3 but also very high in fiber... brocoli is another fiber champion

Don’t buy caned veggies as they are overcooked to be caned …and this destroys all the fiber turing the veggies into glucose mainly (most commonly known as the sugar molecule) if you don’t have time to chop the veggies buy a chopped veggie mix…granted ideally to save money you would chop everything but reality is people have jobs families some work two jobs so my advice is based on my own reality sometime I didn’t have time to cook period

c) organic animal protein is your 3rd best friend...buy wild saumon when in season is fairly cheap... i buy one large pack of frozen wild saumon at 10$ ...believe me im a student i do have a restrictive budget...new zeland organic frozen lamb is also an excellent choice at around 13$ for 4 resonable sized steaks... DO NOT buy animal protein if you cant afford the very inexpensive choices ive given you... non organic meat is EXTREAMLLY unhealthy and greasy and will in all likelihood make you gain weight ... animal protein is fundamental if it comes from a good source

other alternatives include caned wild saumon… which is not ideal since the saumon is overcooked destroying the nutritional properties of the latter but hey its better than nothing… also don’t trow the oil/water the saumon comes in it contains tons of omega 3 is not nad for you and it tastes delicious specially convined with a salad

oh ya this may seem obvious but there is no need to heat caned saumon… I do meantion this because some people to save money used can saumon to do recipies that contain saumon … its already been cooked almost all of its nutritional value its lost and if you cook it even more ill be even worse same as the veggies ull be mainly be eating glucose…

wild saumon is not the same as saumon… saumon if feed with corn which changes the healthy omega 3 fatty acids into unhealthy trans fats if you cant afford wild saumon (even canned or frozen which is super cheap) don’t buy saumon at all

d) drink lots of water that also helps you lose weight

food to avoid (that will not only skyrocket your weight but also cause severe health issues)

everything that has sugar added on it (even if it says its organic cane sugar) itrs still the same molecule it will make you gain weight)

on that note almost everything thats processed and not homemade has sugar added ... so any frozen foods that you buy at walmart etc say frozen pizza , frozen meal, etc are HORRIBLE for your health and weight

sodas that with sugar added foods are two things you should avoid at ALL cost ... not only do sodas have an insane amount of sugar added but also they are carbonated... making things a lot worse .... trust me your body will thank me

ice cream .... this is basically frozen grease with an insain amount of sugar.... mmmm yummy

sweets...the epiphany of sugar

and

white bread and cereal ok this is not as bad but definitely very processed most of the fiber is lost ... you should try oatmeal and brown bread instead thought again not as bad same goes for cookies = sugar added

not saying you cant never eat this foods but they definatly SHOULD NOT be a part of your regular diet if they are the are certainly making you gain empty calories meaning weight and no nutrition... also not saying sugar is bad but added sugar is the devil very extreamly bad for you in fact i eat tons of fruit daily which have sugar on them... however we are talking about natural fruit sugar not corn fructose syrop which is an artificial sugar found in many processed foods that studies found cause cancer

tip i do drink fruit juice ... i dont throw the pulp away because thats where all the fiber is (is almost like a smoothie) and i sweeten my juice with bananas

i also eat eggs and cheese... i eat as much as i like but i always try to distribute my food as follows ... a large portion of beans (garbanzos or lentils) a normal portion of raw salad with avocado if possible (i put cheese on the salad) a small portion of animal protein... in case i cant get the animal protein i have an egg... and a juice/smoothie i do add nuts from time to time

in case you are very overweight i would recommend a very large portion of beans ...a normal portion of salad ...a tiny potion of meat (it is still important you have meat it has omega 3 that are good for you ) in case of no animal protein available cheese (may be less fat than the egg) and a greek yogurt smoothie with nuts instead of juice this lowers the sugar a bit... ITS IMPORTANT YOU STILL EAT SUGAR TO BE HEALTHY...

doing this i lost around 10 kilos in 4 to 6 months .... again i wasnt in a hurry to lose weight i just wanted to be healthy and i have mantained a helthy weight ever since and i eat as much as i like

i also recommend wild rice instead of white rice.... a cheaper alternative is brown rice but god it tastes horrible ... it can replace the beans from time to time... thought i recomend you stick to the beans if you need to lose weight

if you absolutely do not have time to cook anything at all buy a large bean salad and incorporate it in your diet daily (if possible with avocado) you will see a difference..

I don’t count calories nor I do weight myself constantly … I don’t think this is good practice I just monitore my own body changes

Hope it helps
