Hi I have 12 stone to lose or roughly 168lbs, I have already had to have one operation because I am soo overweight, which was a gallbladder removal, the doctors have told me I have to do something or I wont live much longer (a few years if I'm lucky) I am 23!!

I am 22.4, I have joined weightwatchers, got rid of all the chocolate and bad stuff but I have trouble excericising and not giving in and going to the shop and getting chocolate or getting a take away or something like that, I am looking for a diet buddy to help me through this and hoping someone has any ideas on excercise to do at home as I cannot afford to go to the gym!!! Any one who can help me???

read around the forum - especially the stickied threads and you'll get a lot of good info..

But concentrate on nutrition first... get your caloric intake under control by recording everything you eat - don't completely ban certain foods, those lead to binging later... but moderation.. .

it's taken me 20 months to lose close to 200lbs - and i'm a lot older than you are - you can do this - if you want to and are ready to commit to a new lifestyle

thank you very much. I am going to do this, I dont want this to be one of those things I say I'm going to do and not do, this is my life I'm talking about lol I can do this!!! :) thanks :)

Excercise DVDs would be your best bet if you want to keep the excercise at home to begin with (they do all sorts of different types) or of course walking cycling or running. :)

Good luck!

when you're that overweight - exercise dvds can be very discouraging -unless you find one that you really enjoy and can adapt -most of them right out of the box - aren't meant for people who have some mobility problems... and aren't limber and flexible...

The Richard Simmons - as much f an dork as he is - are pretty good actually -but walking is really your best form of movement

Thanks guys, I have done dvds before and found them hard but the ones I did were dancing dvds so I might just look for an actual excercise dvd rather than a dance one lol

I have started walking alot and doing step ups and things at home but I need to get some kinds of equipment at home I think like a rowing machine or excercise bike or something so wish me luck :)

Wow! I really don't have any advice but... Um, hang in there!

Also, if you're interested, you might want to look into vegetarianism... It can help lose weight because so much of the fat that you consume comes from animals:

Anyway, that's the only thing I really have to offer... That and FitTV... Do you get FitTv?

It has some pretty good programs, and it's usually part of the regular cable line-up.

Dietary fat is not the cause of obesity. Fat,carbs, and protein can all be stored as lipid(fat) mass in the body.

A calorie is a calorie. Regardless of where it came from and what form it came in.

Good to know... I've always thought that calories from fat were harder to burn for some reason.

Maybe I just thought that because I get most of my calories from fat (pork pork pork)...

Or, at least, I did get a lot of calories from fat! Hee-hee! It feels so good to say that in the past tense!!!

Well I finally got myself some decent scales and weighed myself and I am 21 stone 11 pounds, 307 pounds with a bmi of 48.1 which is terrible but not as bad as I thought it was. I thought I was at least 25 stone, so although I have a lot of work to do I am happy coz I'm not as fat as I thought I was if that makes sense lol
