Loosing weight

i understand that you have to loose weight everywhere in order to tone your arms, but with doing arm excersices about 3 times a week, how soon should i be able to see results, and what else should i do as far as cardio?

"Toning" usually means watching your diet to lose fat, cardio and weight training will only help. For cardio you could run, swim, bike, jog... soo many options..

ok well i have a question about running then, about two years ago i started running a few days a week, for about 45 minutes a day, i began developing large calf muscles. i am a dancer and so my calf muscles are already bigger than usual, so i dont want them to get even bigger, do u think that running adds to muscle growth in ur calves? or was it just coincidence?

My calves usually get smaller with consistant running.. But if yours get bigger, you could opt to use the eliptical or swimming to avoid getting bulky.

what? thats so crazy? see being a guy is great sometimes, ive never known a girls calves to get smaller, and yeah i def. dont wanna be bulky, id feel like one of those body builder women haha soo gross.

Your calves will NOT get bulky from running or doing any cardio for that matter. There is not enough work involved to trash the muscle and begin the repai/rebuilding process.

I wouldn't worry about it.

well then how did they get like huge the last time i was doing the running? i mean its not like i was huge anywhere else?

Was it huge after you finished the run? If so, it was more than likey what we call a "pump". This is when blood rushed through the muscle and give you a pumped like look.

umm no im not talking like immediately after, im saying like i started running and about a month and a half after i am starting to like totally realize that i am getting huge calves, like ones i cant even wear heels with, coz u can see my muscles so much, and since i dance, and i already have bigger calves, it just sucked...it also happend to another dancer of mine, but hers were like way bigger than mine, i mean to the point that i had guys asking me why she was looking like she had man legs.

I'm not sure, but maybe something low-impact would help... try the elliptical or bike, or maybe swimming...
