Looking fwd to the support and supporting others.

I'm @ 235 lbs., about 30 overweight. My ideal weight should be about 195 for my age (37 y/o) so I'm looking to get somewhere between that and at most 205 (I can still remember being 205 in college...those active high metabolism days!)

My target area is my core...after a slight addiction to fruit juice, desk jobs and Chipotle lunch breaks...you get the picture (got that dad bod n gut). I've done a lot of googling and research and I have a basic plan sketched out: eat (not overeat) healthy portions, LOTS of cardio, resistance, HIT, develop good habits/a schedule and stick to it, repeat.

That's about it folks. I look fwd to seeing us happier and healthier!

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds to me that drinking water would help... After all - if you focus on drinking a healthy amount of water - there may not be too much room for juice once you have that done... You want to be having at least 2 litres of water a day (the forum recommendation has always been 1 fluid ounce for every 2 pounds that you weigh. I aim to drink nothing else until my water is done...

Healthy packed lunches may make a big difference too.. Salad, lean protein and fruit are fab in summer. Home made veg soup can be fab in winter.

You mention healthy portions - but if you have a big appetite - you can fill up on quite a lot of salad and veg without too many calories being involved.

I'm a big fan of wearing a pedometer all day long every day to encourage you to move more in every day life.

I suggest you check out the clubs and challenges... I always found these to be very useful - for getting ideas, staying on track and making friends.
Also start a diary - visit other people's diaries and see what they do, make friends, cheer them on and with luck some of them will return the favour and visit your diary.

Good luck with your project.

Thank you Omega!

Very true, I did the calculation and I'm at about 3.5 L/day. Water is pretty much all I drink now a days and I'm averaging about 2 L/day. I actually don't drink too much fruit juice anymore but there was a point where I was drinking it like it was water a couple years ago :) and I know that contributed to my expanded gut. Thank you for that info, I did about 3 L yesterday.

Indeed - I'm going to be getting into pre-made meals soon, just cooking on the weekend and freezing the meals for the week. I love fruit and salad so I'll be eating a lot of that.

Yep, I tend to snack on lots of veggies and I've been buying kale like its going out of style lately.

I'm going to look into getting a pedometer.

I just started a diary yesterday but didn't have time to log last night but I'm going over there right now. I look fwd to meeting new people and us helping each other to a happier healthier life!

I am having 2 litres water a day - although I know that I should be having more...
Back in the day when I was really focused I had the proper amount and always felt I was swimming in it...

Preparing your food up front is a brilliant idea.

You are well on your way to a healthier lifestyle. :hurray:
