Hi all my names Matt, Im 20 almost 21 years old. Ive always been the big funny guy in school. Right now im at my heaviest 270. Never really worked out in my life, never felt the need to . Always thought that it didnt matter since everyone liked me in HS even though i was fat. Now im noticing how much its effecting my life. Im trying to lose 70 pounds. I would be extremely happy at 200.

I really want to lose the weight but i have no idea were to start, its sad i cant even do a situp lol. More than anything im looking for someone around the same weight with the same goals to keep each other motivated.

Also I wanted to tell everyone who is on this site that you have inspired me to lose the weight. Looking at all the before and after pics makes me want to lose it all NOW! :sifone:

I think the place to start is by keeping track of what you are eating, even if it is only to list what you eat during the day without trying to cut back or count the calories. Just become aware of what you are eating. Then cut way back on the junk food. Next step would be to count the calories using a free diet tracking software such as or track your meals online at a site such as

Read the sticky threads on this site. There is a lot of valuable information here.

I agree with Harold14370 above. Even if you do not change your diet immediately, when you start recording what you are eating every day, you will see so many ways of making changes to your diet.....that really won't matter to your level of eating satisfaction.

For example, when I started writing cheese out of my diet (for the most part) I thought I would really be unsatisfied. Not true. I hardly notice or even crave it now (One month later)

You will lose the weight when you start down this path.

Hi Matt,

Besides looking into your diet as suggested above, I'd go do some exercise. Just start somewhere and slowly build up.

If you've never done any exercise, then it really doesn't matter what you do, as long as you start doing something.

Personally, for long-term fat loss and fitness I think some form of resistance training is a prerequisite... But you might just want to find something that gets you going and that you like to do.

Hi Matt

Hello Matt,

The best way to lose weight is through regulating your diet and doing some sort of physical activity. But, make sure that you start slow so that you won't get hurt. Try starting by taking a short walk and increase the distance as you can. WIth your diet, make sure you eat a variety of different foods, cutting out junk foods, especially soda, which can pack on the pounds! Good luck to you!
