Sport looking for a meal plan

Sport Fitness
I'm trying to get myself on a proper diet now that I've begun exercising daily. I've tried to cut back on junk food and do about a 30 minute routine on an elliptical daily and I've lost ~10lbs since I started. I'm 20 years old, ~6ft tall and 181lbs. My goal is simply to trim fat/lose weight, I'm not really interested in gaining mass. Not knowing anything about proper nutrition for this sort of thing, I'd like to get an idea of what kind of foods I should be eating to do this in a quick and healthy manner. Preferably things I can make on a budget and with limited cooking abilities. What I'm looking for is a template for a plan that some of the more knowledgeable folks would use if they were in my situation, or at least some pointers to get me started in the right direction.

Thanks!

If you would just read thru the forums before posting you'd have all the info you need to "point you in the right direction".

There is a recent thread of the 20best foods, tonnes of info on diet and nutrition.

If you want anymore detail You'd be better off buying a book on nutrition that will give teach you everything.

Basically, just eat 6 small meals a day with protein and carbs in each. Go to for the best lean proteins, carbs, and vegetables for each meal. Drink water. That's about it! :)

And what the heck... here are 5 tips for fat loss to get you started...

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

2) Drink lots of water :)

3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week.

4) Cardio. This should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions.

5) Strength Training. Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method.

All of the above things combined will result in fat loss. Don't worry about bulking up and getting freaky huge. If it was so easy... we'd have a lot more bodybuilders :)

Hi there,

My opinion from experience is that it's best to consult with a trainer or nutritionist. Someone can suggest a meal plan that worked great for them, but it may not work at all for you. Everyone is very different. Having someone took a good look at you and your needs is the best way to go.
