Long Distance

Has there been any good exercises for anyone that would help increase there long distance running from pratically nothing..? What i mean is do like 1000 yards one day, 1100 yards the next day so on so on.

what are your goals?
there is diffrent training styles for middle distance (1mlile), long didstance (5mile) half marathon (12.5mile )and marathon ( 20+miles)

Or are you just trying to loose weight, or just get fit?

Cant really help untill I know what you want out of it.

sorry for the late response, What im basically trying to do is loose weight along with building endurance to do long distance (5 mile as you said)

well if you build endurance you'll find that the fat will drop of just from the training. make sure your eatting healthy 5-6times a day.

If you want to get your speed up for the 5mile you should do this.

day 1 - rest
day 2 - rest
day 3 - HITT (20mins)
day 4 - rest
day 5 - HITT (20mins)
Day 6 - rest
Day 7 - 5mile run

True HIIT shouldn't last much longer than ten minutes.

why hiit? It is very stressful for the body and since this guy start's from practically nothing as he said I thknk hiit can be risky with injury..... I would start with a slow run 5 km, gradually increase the speed and when he's comfortable with that increase 10-15% a week until he reaches his goal.. then start about thinking about hiit, no reason to rush it and get injury
