Living a sedentary lifestyle...

Age: 16 yrs.
Sex: Male
Weight: approx. 135
Height: approx. 5'9"

Situation:

--I don't play any sports and don't plan to.
--I don't have a safe or convenient place to run (no track, field etc.).
--I have some free weights lying around (two of 4, 8 lb)
--Living typical stereotypical image of a lazy, ungrateful lifestyle.
--I feel lazy, apathetic, somewhat depressed all the time, and sleepy all day.
--Diet sucks. (usual crap/junk)

Goal:

--Not 100% sure which questions to ask.
--Get fit all around.
--Build muscle endurance (think physical labor, don't ask why).
--Don't want to die at age 25 of a heart attack from being a fatty.
--Get my energy back.
--Fix minor sleeping problems.
--Obtain confidence.

Glad you're willing to change. Start reading around here, like in the nutrition and weight training sections. You'll come up with your own questions -- sometimes you'll easily find the answer, sometimes you'll have to ask. That's what we're here for.

Good job for changing your ways. Just stick with it. At first it will seem very hard/boring, but once you get over that initial hump you will start to enjoy it and soon get to where you cant get on with your day without doing it.

you have the same situations I had when I started out, but except I was 5'7" and 160 pounds(I wasn't fat either). First, you should get yourself a bench, barbell, dumbells, and some some weight plates because if you don't have atleast these items, then you won't really get the muscle you are wantin. Second, you should use more compound lifts with your workouts if you want to add overall muscle then isolation exercises. Third, if don't know any exercises or how to perform them correctly, go to teen bodybuilding.com(they show pictures and videos on how to perform exercises).

P.S. You also had the same goals I wanted too(weird isn't it) and I abtained all of them by working hard and not giving up, at first when I started working out, I was the weakest and nearly smallest guy in my school and I could not get in to any sports because of my asthma, after a 2 years of working out, I became one of the strongest(I can lift more weight than most of the adults around town). Main point, don't give up right away!
P.S. Was this helpful?
