Hi,

i am starting the Lighter Life Programe tomarrow and was wondering if anyone out there is doing it at the moment or has done in the past and how they are getting on with it.

It is a restrictive diet and your meals are replaced by meals that you buy from them which bloat your stomach out so your not hungry. Apparently they expect you to love three stone in three months which i dont quite belive.

So i would love to hear from you all

1 stone is 14 lbs - depending on your starting weight - 14 lbs isn't totally unrealistic - if it's a higher weight it's surely possible to do.

I would worry about a restrictive diet long term because what happens when you're done with the 3 months? and you've possibly lost 42lbs... do they educate you on how to eat properly or do you go back to old habits -and probably regain most of the weight lost (which is very common with restrictive diets)

Lighter Life!

Hi!
I'm doing Lighter Life and have been since November. I've lost 3.5 stone and intend to carry on for another couple of months until I get to my goal. Its not the easiest thing in the world to do, but it gets results and helps me deal with my issues around food.

I hope you did ok in your first week - think that is the hardest week of all - and that you lost lots of weight!

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim its great to hear from you, at last i can chat to someone who has actually done lighter life and seen results.

i have been on lighterlife for 12 days now and lost 13lb. you are right that it is hard but getting the group support really helps.

its strange to think i am eating 4 chocolate muffins a day and still losing all this weight.

the first week was really hard but i am finding it easier as time goes on now.

So any advice on big events, its my dad and nephews birthday this weekend and am going to really struggle. Lots and lots of party food lying around!

I am also new to Lighter Life

Hi there everyone

I am on my very first week of Lighter Life... and I miss my FOOD! Please tell me that it gets easier, cos i have been doing this for 3 days and I am starving!!!

I started a week after all the others in my group and they talked about how they got so much energy in their first week - I am shattered... will this improve too?

Cheers
A

in your first class your counsellor should have told you to expect the worst week of your life!!

yes i felt like i was starving, ill, dying and more! but it does wear off and next week you will totally forget what your going through this week by your next session as the amount of weight you are losing this week will be incredible!
:D

after the first week your hunger does deminish and you do have a lot more energy and you get excited about how you look and the amount of weight you have lost.

i am in my 5th week now and feel fantastic. if your hunger continues buy the savory drinks, they taste a little like soup but do fill you up, plus are you drinking enough water? the more water you drink, the more full you feel and the more weight you will lose.

hang in there and make sure you come back and let me know how you have got on.

best of luck and remember that your group is there for support and every step you take they have already taken and can offer advice and words of encouragement !

Best of luck

lighterlife -too expensive

Hi there,

I did Lighterlife for eight weeks last year and although it was successful in that I lost about 1 1/2 stone unfortunately I couldn't continue as it was expensive and I believe the price has gone up again to £70 per week. I have recently come across a new diet called key2weight which is an online service but also provides groups which include counselling and exercise which are taking place in the north east for a fraction of the price. I am looking to start this next week so I will let you know how it goes.

The worst thing about Lighter Life and that entire genre of diet is that it is not a healthy way of losing weight.

This thread should be read by anyone considering embarking on such a diet.

People are far better advised to save their money and spend it on healthy food and learn how to build a healthy balanced diet aimed at an appropriate calorie level for weight loss. They should also exercise regularly.

They can thus learn to maintain while losing weight so that they do not regain all the weight that they have lost at the end of their diet.

There is no need to stop eating if you want to lose weight effectively. I lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time by eating healthily and exercising and I know a lot of people that have done the same thing.

I have to say that replying to a posting from nearly 3 years ago does look very much like someone that is trying to sell this new diet. That is one of the tricks that spammers use.
