Lent?

Hey everyone, I don't know if any of you are Christian or are doing anything for Lent... I'm a divinity school student, so I have been thinking about this alot lately, and how i can incorporate these next 40 days into the new lifestyle that i'm trying to create for myself. So my question is, if you are doing something for lent, are you giving something up? fasting? adding something to your routine?

My plan like the past few lenten cycles is to give up meat... which makes it hard to get enough protein, but I mange well with nuts, yogurts, and seafood. Since this is such a big shift in my diet, it really forces me to be mindful of those who don't have the things i do. But I also wanted to add something, so I'm going to challenge myself to drink my 64 oz of water EVERY DAY!!!! I'm also going to take some time each day (like 15 min) to journal and reflect... i have alot going on in my life, and i'm trying to make some changes and there are alot of emotional/spiritual things tied up with that i need to figure out.

That may seem kind of personal, but if anyone else is doing something similiar, or completely different, or whatever, let me know so we can keep each other accountable!

i'm not Christian, but i can suggest that you try protein shakes to get the needed protein. As you are doing it only for lent, then you don't need to go fancy and expensive ... just enough to meet your daily requirements.

As for goals, i've gone through a life altering change the last month ... being more accountable for working out, getting finances together, staying in touch with my family ... can't say that i'm gonna change my diet, as i think it's "good enough" :)

I don't do Lent, but I have undergone some definite changes lately. I basically just decided it was time to get things rolling. I wrote a list of certain places that I was in my life and where I wanted to be in the near future.

I was living with my parents, I am now living on my own. (My parents are amazing but I needed my independence to grow up)

I weighed 204. I am currently down to 186.6! Only a few more pounds until I hit my first 20lb goal mark.

I was in the same relationship but wanted to express my needs with him and did so. (Personal but important)

I was working as a temp. and quit going to college. I am now working full time at the place I was temp'ing for and am also enrolled full time in college.

I now am taking things in stride and enjoying life more. I have made some large adjustments and changes in my life, over the past few months. They are very important for me and I'm so glad I did them. Ok enough of spilling my guts, now everyone else spill theirs! Haha! :p

sounds like you are doing really well and that you're happy with the results ... that's really good to hear. keep it up

Hey, yeah, Lent is actually the best time of year for me to due diet stuff...I have some real motivation. This year I gave up Dr. Pepper, candy (not like I eat it ANYWAYS...), as well as went on a low cal. diet/exercise plan. It's been going pretty well :)

I've also been trying to do some spirtual related stuff, like praying the Rosary more and other little prayers throughout the day. The spiritual stuff is actually harder than the physical stuff, eep!:p
