Sport Length of time for cutting?

Sport Fitness
Hey guys,

I've been cutting for almost a month now (with the gym being involved).

I'm not where I want to be at yet in terms of body fat %, and i was wondering if there was a time limit or body limit as to how long one should cut for?

Any words of wisdom wopuld be appreciated

Thanks a lot,
-ACG

well it depends on your goals, your body fat, genetics and how well you are deiting and exercise.

For me, I'll aim for 2 months, but if I reach my goal early I'll cut it short, and if I dont reach my goal I'll carry on.

What you can do in the future is to test your body fat% before you start bulking, and if your happy with it then aim for that body fat % when you cut.

I think its best to change your weight lifting routine once every 4-6 weeks, keep your cardio varied in general and only stay in a deficit for 8-12 weeks at a time. When you hit about 8-12 weeks take a week break from everything, eat at your calorie level for maintaining and then start back again.

Thanks a lot guys, this truly helps.

This is my first time cutting as I haven't bulked before. I started to eat clean and workout to get lean and burn off this last bit of fat on my lower abs.

I will continue cutting until I like where I'm at.

About caloric defecit: Is it true the leaner you get, the less your deficit should be?

Yes as you get lower in fat, you need to have more of an exericise increase and less of a caloric increase. Then at a point it may be easier to put on some lean muscle and then cut back down as muscle burns more than fat. Usually women should wait till about 18-19 % body fat to do that and men should wait till about 9-10%.
