Knees touch each other when i stand straight

Hi All,

I started jogging 3 months ago where i could not even jog for 30 seconds and by practice today i can jog up to 500 meters without stopping but i have a problem..after i jog for at least 500 meters my legs start to pain below the knees and when i stop running and start walking it takes atleast 10 minute for it to heal before i can start running again..this has been happening for over a month and i'm not able to push myself further, i wonder if this is because of my leg structure? my knees touch when i stand straight so while running or jogging is this causing in a irregular motion that results in pain in the muscles? the pain goes after i stop running maybe 15min later and i don't have any pain or stress, any help is welcome and appreciated Thanks.

Regards

It would be helpful to know your age and if you have any other medical issues. Honestly, jogging 500 meters after 3 months of training is not much progress unless you have other issues that are holding you back. It could be your training program, your shoes or it could be your anatomy but it's not natural to have leg pain after jogging 500 meters. My advice is to seek professional help in the form of your doctor or other health practitioner. I could give you other suggestions but you really need someone to do a proper evaluation.

Hi superdoc,

It sounds like you have knocked kness. Which coukd mean you have orthopedic issues. Do your feet roll inward? I have to agree with trek, 500 metres is not a very good improvement after 3 months. I think you might have muscle imbalances and might need a special leg strengthening program.

yea i do have knock knees slightly but i can still walk straight, my age is 25, i don't have any medical problems, the only thing i come to know today was that my lung capacity is small which i've to practice to make it possible to take more air intake, its easy to go through a slight pain in the leg while running that does not really hurt my legs but its the problem with breathing and now i know the reason is the small lung capacity, also i just started it on my own and never met a trainer to seek any advices, it could also be my shoe, i ought to change the shoes if thats the case.

Ah, so its more of a stamina issue? Is your long capacity issue due to smoking or anything like that? Oterwise, what comes to mind is that you might need to learn to breath better when exercising. Try focusing on breathing down to your stomach on your in breath.

yea it is a stamina issue if you ask me, i hadn't participated in any sporting activity and i was more of just sitting and working, when i had been to a trekking, i was the only person dying to climb the mountain after sometime... while others went up without any problem and the mountain was only 1000 feet i guess..also i don't smoke or drink.

Your legs pain because of some malic (or pyruvic) acid that is secreted when you need energy from certain areas like joints but it isn't dangerous though being an acid.

Energy from joints? I might be misinterpreting your statement, can you please explain what you were trying to say?
