Knee Brace

Within the past few months I have gotten involved in trying to run regularly. I run/walk about 3 miles at a time between 4 and 6 days a week. I try to change up where I run. A couple days a week I run on the treadmill to make sure my distance and time are on track. Usually once a week I run this dirt trail through the woods which is just short of three miles to get a different terrain. The other day I usually run on the pavement around my neighborhood which is nice because it is near to the water. My problem is that I experience some knee pain (usually on the pavement and trail days.) I use a heating pad at night which offers me relief and usually by the next morning I am fine. However, I think I would like to look into getting a knee brace. I don't know much about them though and would like to know if anyone can suggest a practicular brand or type. I am a small framed woman and it is for my right knee. If you guys have any suggestions or think that I may be doing something that could be corrected to prevent this problem it would be helpful. Thanks :)

Get a good pair of running shoes that are specifically made for stability and impact absorbtion. i run in nothing but New Balance, and i no longer experience pain from running

Take a look at Mueller Jumper's Knee Straps, or a similar knee strap (Mueller's just seems inexpensive compared to others...)

It basically just helps guide the patella on its normal path. Good for runners and especially basketball players (hence the 'jumper' in the name). I have one bad knee and these work well for me and only cost about $10.

thanks so much guys. i actually got new sneakers, and it helped a lot. And now that i just looked at this thread i am gonna check out the knee brace malkore suggested. Thanks :)
