Anyone else struggle with one thing that just always seemed to get you? Not just food but one single piece of food that you just couldn't seem to get rid of or let go? Mine was Mountain Dew. I'm not kidding when I say I was addicted. Should have gone to rehab years ago but sadly, there is none! I drank this yellow junk for months and months on end without drinking a single drop of anything else. Water used to make me want to puke when I tried to drink it. So I just never did. Not milk, nothing else. I've been trying to kick this habit for a long time and like a typical junkie, I kept falling off the wagon. I know it sounds funny, but to me, it was very serious when I think about how long I went on drinking and buying this stuff. 2, 20oz bottles a day can add up to some serious dough and weight!
We moved to Germany in 2007. I was a healthy 5'5" and weighing in at 135lbs after 3 kids. Wearing between a size 5-7 jeans. Now I'm sitting at 190 and wearing a size 12. I gained 40lbs in about 4-5 months after we got to Germany. The almost constant bad weather didn't help either. I tried quitting MD back in January of this year but just ended back up on it. In June though, thats when I decided enough was enough. Bring on the headaches! And man oh man, did they come! I decided to just quit cold turkey, wrong choice. So I had one once a week. Then spread it out a little farther. Of course water was still gross so I started drinking tea. Now it's September and I can safely say I'm off of it! I'm drinking water now with lemon added at all times. The biggest difference is my stomach. I never knew how bloated I was 24/7.
I've started walking 2 miles a day (dogs) for 2 weeks and have now added Insanity to the mix. I feel great, I can only imagine how much better its going to be in a month!
My next addiction is salt. This is huge for me. I use about the amount that people use in cooking an entire meal on one dish. I love things salty! So right now I'm working on having salt for one meal a week and go from there until I get used to the flavor of actual FOOD and not salt!
