Sport Ketosis

Sport Fitness
My pee strips are indicating that I am in a deep state of ketosis right now.
However, my weight has maintained at 237.2 for the past 2 days. I'm really anxious to see the weight start ticking off.
Any suggestions on how I can get over my plateau? I have about 3 weeks to go in my biggest loser contest and I would really like to get down to 225 in that time. I want to win this thing!
Thanks

What is your dieting/weight training program/ etc. looking like? that might be your main problem. look into it, change it if you have been eating/lifting the same for an extended period of time, and maybe consider playing with your macronutrient levels.

I'm on the atkins diet. I eat about 60/35/5 protein/fat/carbs. I drink only diet rite and water. I take gnc's vitamin for men. I dont count calories , but I'd guess that my intake is around 1600-2000 a day. I eat 4-6 small meals per day.
I work out 6 days per week.
4 days I do

3 sets
5 mins intense stair stepper
10 reps incline bench press
10 reps lat pull downs
10 reps leg extensions
10 reps tricep pushdowns
10 reps walking lunges
10 reps lateral shoulder raises
10 reps bicep curls
10 reps pec dec
20 reps dips
50 crunches
12 hanging knee raises(lower abs)
rinse repeat

I do 30 mins on the stair stepper on my off days. I also come in 2 times per day on my weight training days and do 30 mins on the stepper.

PM during your last week and I'll give you some sure fire ways to drop 10-15lbs (not fat, but you'll win, lmao)..

I am no one to judge diet plans, but I just don't get the Atkins thing. If only 5% of your diet comes from carbs, how are you getting enough veggies? How are you getting at least a piece of fruit a day?

And the fats, 35% just seems high to me. I know this works for people, and I'll be one the of first to tell people that you have to eat good, healthy fats to lose fat, but I just think a little less fat and a little more carbs from veggies would do the body good. I am within 5-6 pounds of where I need my weight to be, and it is getting hard. It's coming off slowwwwwly, but I'm just sticking to my guns, and its dropping away little by little...

To conclude, 12 pounds in 3 weeks is tough, and furthermore, not really feasible. I know winning the contest would be cool, but just stick to whatever diet has been working for you, adjust if needed, and keep up the work and let the weight come off...

I would love to add more fruit, but it would knock me out of ketosis. I'm having a salad with most of my meals though and taking my vitamins.

The fat content is actually promoted in the atkins book. Atkins quotes studies that indicated a significant advantage for high fat/low carb diets over low fat/high protein/low carb diets.
Also it opens up my diet quiet a bit and makes it tolerable.

One of the things I like about the atkins diet is that he challenges his readers to get full bloodwork done before and after the first month. Not too many diets do that because most diets deprive your body of things it needs.
In Atkins I'm removing carbs (the bodies 1st source of fuel) and ,consequently, my body is burning it's reserved fuel..fat. I try to suppliment what I'm missing from eating more fruit. Once I'm out of phase one of the diet, I'll be able to add some in.

Try a cheat meal...Go out and eat at a steak house. I did that atkins diet, and lost 100lbs (70lbs in 7 months); but I also played basketball everyday in the summer. I had a cheat meal about every 3 weeks. I feel that helped me get over my plateau. The diet is not that bad, and as long as you work out like your doing...you should not lose nearly as much muscle as I did. Hope all goes well.

your body is tired of the torture you're putting it through.

the fact that you probably only take a crap every 3 days and its the size of a Fiero...yer backed up man. Go sit down to an all you can eat salad bar and go nuts on veggies.

oh and buy a plunger.

lol..classic malkore:D

I am taking the weekend off from the gym and I had low carb fajitas today. I'm using tortillas that have 3 net carbs. Very high in fiber. According to my atkins book, you can subtract fiber from carbs. So I've eatin like 5 of those things over the course of the day. My net carbs are prob up in the 30's with the red bell peppers and all. Maybe even the 40's.
