:) Hi everyone out there in Cohen's world I was just wondering if anybody is keeping this diet a secret.

I haven't told anyone in my family beside my husband not even my kids.
And none of my friends know.

When I discovered cohen's and made up my mind to do it I decided I would not tell anyone until I succeeded.

I also figured they were all probably tired of my going on about another diet and so when I lose the weight I WILL REVEAL ALL.

It is hard not telling my sister though we are so close and I hate keeping things from her.

ANYBODY OUT THERE NOT TELLING ANYONE ABOUT COHEN'S?

All the best

Sam:)

Hello

When I first started I decided to tell no one, but after i lost about 20 kilo's and everyone kept asking how I did it, i just started to tell them, people knew I was on a medical diet cause I was getting sick all the time but never knew it was cohens, now i'm so proud and know I will succeed at this eating plan, I do feel healthier an no longer get sick, but I guess i'll have to see how I go at the end of refeed, it was breads, pasta's and chocolates making me sick.

I don't see anything wrong with not telling anyone, I didn't want to tell anyone cause I normally get "what another diet, your on a different diet every week." even my mum told my sister she'll lose a few kilo's and stop the diet. Now they all say hello skinny and my mum says I've lost enough weight now I should'nt lose anymore. Whatever I aint stopping till i'm at my goal..!!!!

So good luck at keeping a secret, you can do it, then when your all skinny, they can all start on there journey of weight loss, if they need to that is.

Shhh! its a secret! :)

Heya!
im also keeping it a secret from everyone except for my Mum,brother and his Fiance as they support me 100%.
because im so young (20) alot of my friends are asking me whats wrong and am i eating properly and why i dont drink anymore but ive told them all about my PCOS and that this is a medical thing im doing..for some reason i just dont think theyll understand if i say im doing cohens theyll just think im wasting valuable money i could be spending on other things like clothes when CLEARLY i cant even buy nice clothes since im a fatty haha

so yesss...its a secret safe with me :)

happy losing xx

Hi
I am afraid of the sabotaging that can happen through friends and family I know they won't take me serious because I have been there so many times before.

So some things are best kept a secret........ for the time being anyway.

Sam

i hadn't been on a diet for a long time, so I didn't have the problem of people not taking me seriously.
I tried to tell as many people as possible that I was starting so that there was peer pressure to continue. People noticed pretty quickly that I had changed the way I was eating, so I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret anyway.

yeah i did the same, only im not on cohans.
Even now 6 months later people forget and will invite me over to eat something really high calorie.
I do wonder if its deliberate or not sometimes though. But yeah it helps that you know they are lookin at ya funny if you even dare grab an ice cream or something lol :)

Din tell anyone when i first started but as the weight came off, everybody start asking and its hard to keep to the story that I am telling that the stress at work is making me lose so much weight. Haa haa... now I just tell them I am on a doctor diet and if they dun ask further I wun explain further.

I havent told anybody about being on Cohens either. Nobody knows except for my mum (who is doing the program with me), dad, and my sister and her fiance. I've got the mindset that this is something im doing for me, not for anybody else...so why should they know? I have had a few friends ask if im doing anything, and i just tell them im being healthy and sensible:p

hey dreamer!
i understand what you mean about keeping it to yourself after..
i dont plan to tell my friends either, for some reason i know theyll think 'oh she had to go through all that to go on a silly little diet? why didnt she just eat fruit an vegetables blah blah blah'...or theyll think because ive failed so many times i just cant do it on my own anymore...(which is kinda ture)

haha so yeh..i know i what you mean!:p

Well, I told everybody

And I still tell everybody. People are just amazed to see me nowadays, and why shouldn't they hear how I lost the weight? This may be of benefit to them or to someone they know, and because I have been so open and shared my journey I know of about half a dozen people who are now losing or have lost significant amounts of weight.

I can appreciate your silence if you have been an Oprah dieter - always 'on a diet' but never sticking with anything and perhaps using 'being on a diet' to protect yourself from any real or meaningful help - or criticism.

But now that you have made a decision, and found the tools for the job, why not share with others so that they, too, may be encouraged and perhaps share your success?

As soon as I signed up I told people I was going to lose 25 kilos. When I had lost 25 kilos - and have maintained goal weight now for six months - the example of my participation in the program has certainly been of benefit to other people.

Obesity is not just a medical problem - we all know that, now, and that it is not just about a lack of self control or some sort of moral failing - but it can also be about 'holding on' to things. Being secretive can also be 'holding' or 'with-holding' from others.

How generous are you in the rest of your life? How confident, how happy?

Now that you have made the decision to change, be generous and share your success with others. They will certainly thank you for it!

Cheers

Chelsea

Hi Chelsea
I will shout it from the roof tops ONCE I have lost all my weight, but I feel I will jinx myself if I start mouthing off about another diet again.
And yes I admit am an Oprah dieter and a few diets I have followed have come from her show ( sad I know ). That's what happens after nearly 30 years of dieting. Cohen's will be my last.
All the best
Sam

Hello all
I personally yell it from the roof tops if given the opportunity, earlier on in the program I realised how much of our life seems to revolve around food, every opportunity of get togethers has some food angle to it, in order for me to stick with the program 100 % without being hassled by everyone, I started to explain why I was not eating, people overall were quite supportive, now that I am passed the half way mark, people have noticed the difference and are asking what I am doing. I like to think that Dr Cohen's should pay me a commission for increased sales revenue, Several people at work are keen to sign up now. We should be proud of the skinny beings we are becoming :D

I've only told my mum and my two brothers. (The peaople I live with)
My dad and stepmum lord it over my mum that when I was living with them they made me eat healthy and made me join up at the gym. Needless to say it didn't work, especially since I didn't really want to, I just did it because if I didn't he would kick me out..
Then mum offered for me to live with her, and I found cohen's and am actually doing it myself. So, I kinda want to keep it a secret till I see them in 6 months and prove my point that it's useless to try to force that kind of thing on someone and expect it to work.
If anyone else asks though, I'll point them in the right direction. I just wish I had found it sooner.

I also tried to keep it quiet that I was on a diet! I had tried to lose the weight by exericise and eating better but it was not working! I don't like the idea of meal replacements/shakes or having my meals supplied so I really liked the idea of "teaching" me what is right for me!

I also have IBS so if really pressed on the subject I could tell people it was a diet from "my Dr" ;) for my IBS issues!

I have had so many comments that now I do tell people how I have lost my weight - but I am getting sick of the people commenting that "I could never do that" when I give tham a quick run down on the foods that are not allowed during the program. I feel that if you want it BAD enough you will give up those things - for the time being and maybe forever if at refeed you find you just "shouldn't" be eating them. (I am finding pasta and to some extent bread are NOT my friends)

My Mum can't believe the change and I am really hoping that she might follow my lead and do it for her own health - or if I win the lotto I will book her in!:D

:) Janine

Hi all

I'm about to start Cohens early next week and really like the idea of kepping it under wraps.

I have tried lots and lots of weight loss programs and have recenly lost around 10kgs through low GI diet and exercise but that has taken months and months and I am losing patience!

How do you keep it a secret though when you need to be so particular about your food? Especially when you are out lunch or dinner with work collegues? That is going to be my biggest challenge!

Hi Juna and welcome:)

Hope you are still around and will get this. I told everyone I was on a Doctor's medical diet........and if they wanted me to elaborate further I would say it's for raised sugar levels (diabetes) as my excuse, which really isn't lying
because it is in my family. Use something which you know is in the family like high blood pressure or preparing to start for a family. Or just keep to it's a medical plan for personal reasons.
Hope all is well and continues.

Hi Sam

Thanks for the good ideas! I am one week in today! So far so good - I have lost 4kgs - I know I'm not supposed to wiegh myself but I need to for the motivation. I am also measuring. But I am still hungry - especially at night and am beginning to miss other food - everything looks good at the moment!

How much did you loose and how long did it take you? If I lost 4kgs per week I could definately stick with it but I know that wont last and its going to be so hard with all the christmas parties coming up!

Hi Juna

4kg in a week that is astounding. I started Cohen's last Xmas (06), 2 weeks before actually. I was going to wait intially for after the festivities but I felt that if I waited for the new year I would be having to lose alot more kilo's.......so I took the plunge and started early. I lost 6.4kg in my first month and less each month there after I completed refeed in March 2007 with a grand total of 15kg those last 3kg would not budge to make 60kg but I was happy enough with between 65 & 63kg.

But unfortunately...... (if you have been reading my diary), my weight has slowly been creeping up again over winter so I am trying to lose a few unwanted kilo's again. I have accepted the fact I will always have to manage my weight!!!!! it doesn't do it by itself.

So I now understand that if I do overindulge the trick is to cut back on all carbs and exercise.......don't let it take over or before you know it all that weight has reappeared and the other trick is to drink lots of water.

Cohens is one of the healthiest and quickiest weight loss programs I have ever known and completed successfully......minus the exercise.

Goodluck Juna.

I'm also keeping my cohen's plan a secret. The only people that know are my mum and brothers, I think that they are going a little crazy hearing me talk about the plan and probably sick and tried of me pointing out how baggy my clothes are getting.

Everyone else knows I'm doing something and think its weird that I weight my food to the last gram! As far as they know I'm doing my own thing. In the past as soon as they know what plan I'm doing, I start getting all these horror stories of what could go wrong, or how unhealthy it is. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!

So, for now I will keep this a secret! Don't know about later?!?

You will shout it to the world once you have completed refeed.

Remember it's okay to bore your family members that's what their there for....hehehe and who cares as long as your clothes are getting looser.
