Hi, I'm Kayla and I'm here for motivation and to, hopefully, make some friends along the way. I am 30 and currently engaged to be married next year. I have two amazing dogs and they're my life. We are currently house hunting and plan to grow our family right after the wedding. The future is bright and I just want my body to start matching.

I have struggled with weight my entire life. My relationship with food is very love/hate. I have trouble with wanting to eat all the time, even if I'm not hungry. If I get a craving for a particular food, which happens often, I fixate on it until I finally give in. Usually if I give in, I give in hard and end up binge eating. Then I usually fall into a depressive slump and eat more. This is my biggest issue. I want to be healthy and eat healthy. I do enjoy healthy foods, so that's not the issue. I am determined to hold myself accountable and I'm hoping this diary will help.

Height: 5'5"
Starting Weight:
165lb
Goal Weight: 125lb

I am starting off with intermittent fasting on an 18:6 time frame. I have cut all soda and alcohol. Looking forward to this journey.

Hey Kayla, you started that diary! Good for you.

It sounds like you are in an exciting time of life, looking forward to marriage and perhaps starting a family, that's great! House hunting can be fun, but I know it can also be stressful. Good luck with it.

Wow, I could have written that many times in my life, I know how you are feeling.

The best suggestion I can make now is to get you diary going, log you food, count your calories, log your exercise and post it every day. For a while anyway. It will help you be accountable and give folks the chance to offer support and useful advice.

You can do this, and I am looking forward to watching you do it!

Thank you and it's good to know that other's feel the same. Many people I've talked to, even those that have struggles with food, don't seem to understand.

Thank you for the advice. Right now my quarantine food is not the best, but I'm going to work with what I have. My only exercise lately has been dog walking and beat saber haha.

Hi, Kayla & welcome to the diary section of the forum. I think you'll find most of us understand the struggles with food & weight. I came into the forum back in 2007 when I decided to do something about my weight. A lot of people just think it's a simple thing but have no idea bout the mental battles. You have found a kind and understanding place here.
What a big achievement it would be to be healthy & fit when you plan on getting married, especially if you plan on starting a family soon after. Learning to have a healthy relationship with food & your body will help grow children with a healthy attitude as well.
Once again a great big welcome :)

Good to meet you! Again, very happy to find a place with people that understand.

Yes, it's a big motivator for me. I want to be at my best on my wedding day and I want to be healthy before we start trying for kids. My family is my biggest motivation right now, even if they're not all here yet.

Hi Kayla and welcome :)
Yes this is a lovely forum--i'm sure you'll find great support here. You sound very clear on your goals, your method and your possible obstacles so that sounds like a really great start!

Right now my quarantine food is not the best, but I'm going to work with what I have. My only exercise lately has been dog walking and beat saber haha.

Yes the current pandemic sure throws some extra challenges in, and all the more reason to join a forum like this for extra support. Beat saber is great! Lots of fun and very challenging!

Hey Kayla and welcome! I don´t really have anything to add but wanted to add my voice to the chorus :)

I feel like we are on similar timelines but just at different points. I'm 32 and the younger of my two kids is 8 months old. We're done with kids now and I'm ready to feel like myself again. You're totally right that it helps hugely to be at a good place with your body before having kids. I wish I had done a little more to increase overall fitness before getting pregnant. A bit more muscle would have really helped with the physical stress of carrying a child. Wishing you all the best on this journey!

Hello, Kayla - good to meet you! :)
