Hey guys, new to the forum. Im 20, i'm obviously bigger than i should be for my height. I'm about 5' 10" and weigh in at about 220-230 lbs. funny thing is, i only gained the weight throughout my chest, stomach and legs. my face looks slim =D .. anyways, I was fit in high school. Until the ending when the partying caught up to me and college life kicked in. I gained weight without even noticing how big i was getting. I borrowed p90x from a friend of my parents. I would like to know if this is a good diet plan to follow with p90x . I did some calculation and what not on that website and they gave me the following.

MOD EDIT: link removed

Is this one good to follow? And my goal is to lose the weight before october. I understand I can't lose all of it, but I want to be able to get fit enough for a military evaluation by then. Plans are 2 years of military experience and then off to the NYPD for me. Any other tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. p.s. jeans are 40"-42" depending on the cut , would like to get down to atleast a 34-38 again.

hi Amith..

first off.. P90X was a great move for you

Phase 1 (month 1) you should concentrate your diet on this premise:

5 Servings of protein / day
3 Servings of dairy
1 Serving of fruit
2 Servings of veggies
1 serving of fat
1 serving of carbs
3 snacks (soy nuts, protein bar, low fat cheese stick and so on)
1 condiment

This is the fat burning process, so you will concentrate more on protein than carbs. Carbs really kick in phases 2 and 3.

I am on Phase 2 now, and I was in the exact situation you were. 220ish. I'm down over 25lbs already. If you have ANY questions, you can contact me or just look at my thread in the "diary" section.

P.S...

I highly recommend Shakeology. It makes me feel great, I have a ton of energy, and I'm losing weight very quickly for a 34 year old guy.. and I'm doing it right (no gimmicks).. if you're interested in it, I can send you the link for it. Don't buy it on some secondary site.. I' always weary of that.

thanks for the advice. & Down over 25lbs in phase 1? sounds great. did you notice a big change in waist size and overall bmi?

waist size.. I started a tight 36, and I'm wearing 34s now. I'm very strict with the diet, and have not missed a workout.

In fact, I add additional exercises throughout the day. I figure, if it's only 90 days, I'll make it count.

Shit hope my progress can be the same. I actually work at home now [ stocks / online retail ] so i have all the free time in the world to get this program on and going really soon. going to get my grocery lists and everything set up and start the program at latest on Monday. Doesn't the extra exercises stress your body during the day? I have a bowflex ultimate system at home. i plan on including that at night before i go to sleep. and work with the p90x during the day.

I don't lift as an extra exercise.

As lame as it sounds, I'll do 30 mins of Wii Fit, or I'll take the dog for a hike at night. Just to keep myself active.

I work from home a lot, as well. I know the tendency to sit around all day. If I can break it up with some activity, I'm very happy.

In Wii Fit I do 8 mins of Yoga, 10 mins of advanced Step, 10 mins of that hoola hoop thing. I'm usually pretty wasted by that time!!

lol i can imagine the wii fit would do that to you. I'll consider adding in a few bow-flex exercises at night to keep the workouts on pace. I don't have a wii at the moment, or i would of tried that. I'll start a log on Monday.

Also do you drink at all ? and if so , how do you keep it intact with your diet? i drink black on the rocks. that's my thing, has been for years. from what i can tell its about 60-90 calories a shot. I'm going to have to cut down on the weekend partying but I really need to get in shape for the military eval. so I'm willing to do what it takes.

p.s what is the link for that Shakeology drink i would like to read up on it. anything to help with energy to give me a drive would be great. I've tried slim fast before, i got hungry and felt the same 10 minutes later. waste of money

I'm not sure I can post a link on here for a product. I've seen people get ripped a new one and edited for posting links.. Shoot me your email, and I'll get you the link.

Also, my doctor works out religiously, and drinks a glass of bourbon a night. He says, it not only won't make/break you, but it will help relax you and your stress levels.

sounds good, i'll try to consume less at a time, usually we get wasted on the weekends.

& i found the correct link already, thanks though. reading up on the product at the moment. Its a bit expensive for my taste at the moment, living alone, bills, and school takes up most of what i make. Maybe a cheaper alternative if you have any ideas? such as a drink i can make myself?

regarding Shakeology, it SEEMS expensive, but it's not.

Shakeology replaces 30 meals
$120/30 meals = $4/meal

Not sure where you can find a meal for $4! It also fills you up, and it's ridiculous how healthy it is for you. If you were to do this for an extended period of time, you'd also save on medical bills (not to mention a lower premium on Life/Health Insurance).

I have a meeting with my Term Life Insurance 1 day after P90X is over. Can't wait!!
