Just starting my weight loss journey

Hi there. 2 weeks ago, I made the decision to lose 10 lbs of fat and to gain 5 lbs of muscle.

When I hit my early 20s, I put on 20 lbs after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It's been a real dig to my self esteem as I had always been a lean person.

Before, I was 5'00" and 100 lbs. I'm still 5'00" but I'm 20 lbs heavier. Well, I've actually dropped 3 lbs since I began making healthier choices with my life. So right now I'm about 117 lbs. 7 lbs to go!

Since I have hypothyroidism and I'm already close to my goal weight, I don't expect to see quick progress. In fact, I'm only planning to lose about 1 lbs a week.

To lose weight, I'm eating 200 calories less every day which adds to about 1,200 a day and I'm exercising 6 times a week. 3 of those days are 45 minute aerobic workouts and the other 3 days are only 30 minutes.

A lot of the women in my family are overweight and I'd like to do everything I can to avoid the same fate so I'm making changes now while I'm young so that I can instil healthy habits for the rest of my life.

My first goal weight is 110 lbs. After I achieve that, I'm going to try to put on 5 lbs of muscle for an end weight of 115 lbs.

I've been doing a lot of research and I'll be sure to consult here if I need any motivation or advice. Thanks for taking the time to read this if you did! I'll be seeing you ~

Sounds like a good plan - to achieve your current goal as well as start good life habits. I'm also looking to lose 7 more pounds over seven weeks and then get back to weight training and regain any lost muscle. Wishing you much success.

Thank you so much. I wish you success too!

Welcome to the forum :) It sounds like you have a very sound plan & seem determined to succeed. Don't worry if you don't lose a pound a week. Slow & steady is the way to go.
