Sport Just how bad is......

Just a few questions to find out just how much I'm slowing myself down....

I am 23 and do live in a university town so I prob go out drinking on average about once a week. And maybe have a drink with dinner once or twice the same week. I'm not stupid and I know that alcohols not great for your body but how awful is it?

Also I know that everyone says that five or six small meals over the course of the day is the best way to go. Some days I get so wrap up in whatever I'm doing that I don't eat until my boyfriend comes home and mentions dinner. At which point I get a lecture for not eating all day. He says that when I don't eat my body will store fat becaues it thinks that it might need it later. Any truth to that? And just how bad is lapseing like that every once in a while?
 
1. alcohol is nothing but empty carbs that screw with insulin release. limit it as much as possible.

2. yes, not eating puts the body into starvation mode, and it will not burn fat for energy. it'll use muscle glycogen first, adn when that quickly depletes, you'll start to burn muscle.

going into starvation mode is always a bad thing. really screws up your mood and energy levels, in addition to the other bad stuff.

try to only have alcohol, and limited consumption, on your 'cheat day'.
 
in men, it'll screw up testosterone production too.
