Here it is, my first entry in my weight loss diary, yayyy. I’ve never done one of these before so hopefully this is a good sign. I’m 5’0” and 163.5, started at 168 a couple weeks back, and I’d like to get to 128 or a size 8 (whichever comes first). I’m hoping to reach my goal weight by the time I need new cold weather clothes. But I really have high hopes of getting there during the summer months, preferably before July 4 so I can show off at my family reunion.
Food: I’m cutting back my calories to about 1300. I’m trying to think of all of the healthy foods that I already enjoyed eating even before I was trying to lose weight so I can make them staples in my diet. I used to buy my food based on how good it tastes, how often it goes on sale, and how quick it is to fix. Now I’m on a quest to find foods that still rate high in those categories but with less calories. A few of my favorites right now: Frozen broccoli and cheese, cans of corn, Amy’s brand pocket sandwiches, Thai Kitchen soup bowls, Egg beaters, cucumbers with light ranch dressing, every fruit on earth, light yogurt, and Frappucino mocha bars.
Exercise: I bought an elliptical which is surprisingly easy to stay on for 30 minutes. It’s just the actual getting on it part that I’m having problems with. I wish I could say it’s my busy schedule (not really), or the kids (nope, don’t have any), or even laziness or lack of energy (got the energy for everything else). Sometimes, ok most of the time, I just don’t wanna. Dang, gotta work on that. The plan is to get on the elliptical 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes and to do the Bodies in Motion strength training that comes on tv 3 times a week too. I found that my work out goes so much better with music, especially the songs that I can't resist tapping my feet to when they're on (My Humps), southern rap (turns me into a work out gangsta), or any song with P. Diddy. There's something about Diddy's voice that makes me feel like I can't stop, I think he has sublimal messages in his music.
Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
Since I’m really short, 5 feet even, I have a really hard time finding clothes that fit. It seems like I can never find a size 14 petite but I always see size 8 and 10 petite. So my biggest supporters in reaching my goal are all those outfits that keep pleading and begging to go home with me.
How realistic is your goal?
I can do it, I can do it. Go me, go me.
