Judging by my size (Pic Inside) How long should I run?

I've been running for a few years now. I picked back up on weight and am trying to slim down some, but mostly tone. I do weight train--and a lot. Calisthenics and heavier weights at the gym. So how long should I be running outside so I don't tap into my muscle?

Thanks in advance

As long as you want/can. Maybe 30-60 minutes. The protein contribution to your energy supply during exercise is so minuscule that you don't have to worry about it at all.

Running will be good for tone, and like Jrahien said you can run as long as you want. I'd just say keep it a mileage you're comfortable with and ease yourself back into running. You don't want to be hurting too bad after a run because it can be an excuse not to workout the next day. Happened to me last week when I found the motivation to run 7 to 12 miles when I'm used to running just 3-6. Joint and muscle pain put me out of commission for a couple days and I've been kicking myself for uping my mileage so drastically.

Wow, that's a lot of miles. I usually run about 3 at the most. But I don't wanna get skinny, I want to tone up and be tight. Last time I got skinny and everyone said, it's because you run too much and for too long and before I used to run for 60mins, and everyday. Now I just do maybe 3x a week and for 30-35mins, so that way when I weight train my muscles will show.

That's good. I'd suggest for lean muscle and tone to run 3 to 5 times a week for 20-45 minutes a time, but to also incorporate some calisthenics to build some leaner muscle. If you do that with your normal weight training routine, you should get that tone look you're looking for.

Have a look at a book called "The New Rules of Lifting for Women" that book is targetted at the "image" your are looking for. As I have seen other people in this thread mention, I wouldnt worry too much about tapping in to your muscle. Just keep your macro's on target for what you want to acheive.

I think there is no limit you should follow as long as you are comfortable. It would make your body more tone. All i want to suggest you that maintain a minimum routine for yourself and most importantly follow it. Do not put any extra pressure on your body right now. It would negatively affect your body and you would feel tired. Time to time try to restructure your routine in advance level.

When i started push up i did maintain a routine. Initially i did maintain 10 push up for 5 time a day. I did maintain it for 1 month. After one month i did 15 push up for 5 time a day. Now i can endure 30 push up for per day. So it is very important that you need to restructure your daily routine time to time and follow it strictly.
