joining track!

Are you running or throwing?

You should absolutely stay away from wearing weights on your ankles and/or wrists.

That's an interesting combination-cross country and sprinting. What length are you sprinting? When do practices start? How long and how often are the practices and how far apart are the competitions? Are you going to be resistance training with the team?

Obviously you're going to have to do some sport specific activities, like running. Other than that, I need a few more details before I can offer any practical advice.

aquantis u ever try running with weights wraped around your ankles? lol.. yeahh i dont think i would be able to make it to both practices but im not sure what i want to join yet so i better train for both ;) ill be spriting maybe a quarter mile the practices will start in october.. i dont know anything about the competitions tho :-/ uhm yeah im alredy running nd doing hiit run/sprint.

Weights on the ankles/wrists disrupt the natural motion and are damaging and therefore are counter productive and have no carry over.

Fuelsofar, I'm sure that you'll get enough practice with the sport since it starts soon and you'll prob be lifting (if the coaches know what they're doing).

cc is goign great, we do resistance training everyday. ive been getting up at 5am to get some extra training so that i can catch up to the people that have been in cc for a year or so. is there any kind of supplements that would help me with my 3miles in the morning and 5 miles in the afternoon? im taking whey protein but my coach says i dont need the muscle mass :-/ but im taking it anyway i dont wanna become skinny like the others :-s

Well your coach definately hit the nail on the head with that. A sprinter is definately built much differently than long distance runners, which is why it seems a little unordinary that someone would do both. Well just find a good balance, I would say. Lol, I'm not much in the supplements department.

i just bought an mp3 player this should help me a lot in my long runs :-D it has an armband so i dont have to hold it :p also has fm radio... music seems to psych me up ^_^

I've been in track all through high school and have done both sprints and long distance so if you have any questions about it or like training im here to help )
