Jogging

OK, i read allot of online articles and blogs etc, i get some answers but still kinda not so certain, which is why im asking so active people can give imput ..

Does jugging/walking keep you in shape ? or can you use it to tone/sculpt ... reason im asking i started jogging recently, like 1hr each morning, various terrain from flat to step slope .. now i feel the burn mostly in the legs/calfs and sometimes in the shoulders ...

Where elese is getting a workout ? im now at 230+ at 6'2" i wanna hit the gym once i get to my goal of say 215, im coming from 280. all and all the jogging feels good and keeps me relaxed, but i want to know for sure that im burning and not just maintaining..
 
You are burning. The weight loss is the most obvious proof (congrats!!). Jogging not only makes you burn, but it also improves your heart, arteries, bones and it does tone you body somewhat (it doesn't grow lots of muscle, though).

In fact, the only problem is that if you have problems in your joints or some specific bone problems it may make them worse.
 
I dont have any joint probs as far as i know ... so i guess ill see the effects of the jogging lets say after 1/2 months ... the weight lost so far was done with dieting and walking .... the jogging has just been added, but i can tell you, few months ago i wouldnt last 5mins jogging ... hehe

I went jogging last weekend for the first time in about a year, and I was shocked that I could actually last more than tieing up my shoelaces :)
 
So this morning i go out for my regular Jog ... left like half hour late thou, i normally can jog for 30/40mins at a moderate pace, but this morning i jogged for like 15mins then decided to walk another 15mins .. BIG MISTAKE :svengo: when i tried to jog again is like my legs were dead, i could not move them, after 2 mins i had to stop, i figure my body cramed up or summin, so i did some streaching, still couldnt jog :toetap05: then i just did a sprint as fast as i could wihch lated for about 15secs, after this my legs woke again and i could continue jogging :gnorsi:

what happend to me ? :toetap05:
 
Can somebody help me, im running/jogging approx 1hr15mins in the mornings, can somebody tell me about how much miles is that ?
 
Nice link ... according to mapmyrun im doing 4.77miles
