Hi friends,
I am new to this forum. This is my first message. I'm wondering if someone can help me. I have searched Google and have some info, but not sure if I have found what I'm looking for. Anyway, I've been jogging about 5 months for the most part. I have finally worked my way up to a little more than 3 miles. I jog the first miles, walk 1/10 then jog another 1/2 mile or so until I complete my 3+ mile route.
Just this week it began hurting on the outside of both my calves, but it is worse on right leg. It doesn't hurt until about one mile. Then I walk, even try stretching, tip toes, point toes, etc. This helps ease the sharp pain some, but then the pain comes right back when I start jogging.
I have read up on stretching the calf muscles; some research says do so before jogging and some say afterwards to increase flexibility. Also, I have good running shoes, my feet are arched, no problems there that I know of. I was just beginning to really enjoy the jogging too and trying to get ready for a 5K next month and now this new pain has come on. However, it's only been two consecutive days.
Should I give it a rest for a few days or what suggestions does anyone have? Sorry for the length, just wanted to supply you with some background.
Thanks,
Richard
