Jen's progress report!

Some of you might remember me from a few years back (hi rosered and totallyscrappy), I lost weight quite successfully, then i left, then I came back to lose weight for my wedding, but failed miserably (i really didn't push myself) then I left and now I'm back!! Again. I live in New Zealand so you'll have to excuse my metic weights and measures. This time last year I weighed 70kg and am now 80kg. My long term goal is get down to about 68kg. (that means I have to lose about 22lb for the Americans here. Ideally I would like to lose 500g - 1kg (1 - 2lbs) a week.
Short term goal: To weigh 77kg by August 1. It's realistic, but will be a real challege for me, snacking is my down fall and I know it, especially after dinner. Even when I have a healthy snack option, I always go for what I want instead of what I should have. This is my challenge for the week: I can have 2 snacks a day, one of them must be (only) fruit after dinner. I'm going to try to post in this thread everyday.

I had my last meal as a fat person last night, prawns with garlic butter and coconut ice for dessert. When I went to bed I did something I've never been able to do before: I threw food out. I had 1/2 a tray of coconut ice left and I threw it in the bin. For those of you who don't know what coconut ice is, it is a type of sweet made from massive amounts of confectioners sugar.
I'll post my food for the day tonight. Wish me luck!

Thursdays summary
light exercise on exercycle and swiss ball total 30 mins.
breakfast:1 30g serve oats with small amount of 1/2 milk
lunch: 1 boiled egg, 1 serve cheese, 1 cup peas
snack: 2 mandarins
Dinner: Homemade Turkish bread (probably too much) some with olive oil and dukkah some with cream cheese and onion marmalade. Plus 1 glass wine.

Hey check me out I had a vegetarian day! I didn't even notice.

Friday so far
same exercise as yesterday
breakfast: 30g oats with half milk
took a quick walk to the service station bought a couple of pack of sugar free drops to suck on between meals (7 calories each).

Thanks Hippo (love the name!). I succeeded the first time I tried using this forum and I'm motivated enough (I hope) to succeed again this time. Its mid winter here so buy summer I should be able to fit all my clothes again and look great, at the moment I'm so grateful to big jumpers!!
Heres how the rest of today went
Lunch: grilled chicken breast with toasted turkish bread with cream cheese and onion marmalade
Dinner: 1 grilled chicken breast with onion marmalade and a capsicum (2 halves) stuffed with rice, peas, mushroom topped with a teeny bit of parmasen cheese.

No snacks yet but I intend to have a mandarin because I have not had enough fruit and vege today. I need to use up that turkish bread, I think its quite high in calories, once its gone I think I'll behave myself more. Homemade vege soup tommorrow for lunch!
Hubby is coming home for the weekend tommorrow (he works away) and is taking me out for dinner, so that will be a challenge, but I'm not going to be too strict on myself, its not very often we go to a restaurant.

Thanks for the good wishes people!

Saturdays diet:
Breakfast: 30g oats with 1/2 milk + 1/2 a grapefruit
My exercise was a frantic clean of the house for about an hour, worked up a sweat so its got to be good!
Lunch: 2 bowls of homemade soup with turkish bread croutons!!
Dinner: Didn't end up going out :( but ordered in some food (still naughty though.) I had an entree: a few small vege samosas, 2 chunks of tandori chicken, 1 un-identified yummy thingy. My main was Chicken korma on basmati rice with 2 pappadums.
drinks: 4 glasses of cider
So I ruined the day but it could have been a lot worse, we could of had KFC or something.

Welcome Jenny. This diet was the first time I ever threw food out before starting--I took it as a very good sign.

Hi and Welcome.

I'm also a Yo Yo dieter. Don't feel bad, your not alone. We're all here to support and encourage you. So don't lose sight of you goal. :)

You are all so supportive, thanks heaps everyone!
I did good today. I didn't exercise because it was the only day of the week that I get to spend with hubby, which usually means eating crap food, but I didn't. As he was cooking his bacon and eggs, I was preparing a nice healthy breakfast for myself.
Breakfast: 30g oats and 1/2 milk with 1/2 a grapefruit.
Lunch: 1 bowl of vege soup with 1 chuck of turkish bread
Dinner: stirfried chicken with lots of vege and a little basmati rice.
Snack: 1 apple
Drinks: 4 ciders and a mouthful of hubbys beer.
I've cut right down on my drinking, usually in a weekend I'd go through 2-3 bottles of cider, this weekend I drank 1 (8 standard drinks) in total, didn't even get tipsy.
Looking forward to a productive day tommorrow, gotta climb the grapefruit tree again, take the cat to the vet, get some exercise, organize my Avon orders and eat healthy and stay positive.

think of all the money you'll save (in addition to calories) by cutting backon your drinking... that should be great motivation :)

Monday
exercise ball
breakfast: 30g oats with 1/2 milk, 1/2 a grapefruit
walked in to town 40 mins of brisk walking, about 30mins of pottering around while there.
Lunch: 3 bowls of seafood soup (mussels, prawns, fish)
Dinner: 1 small bowl of a morrocan pork thingy (diced lean pork, tomatoes, cannelini beans, couscous) I got the recipe from a health foods magazine.
I didn't have much dinner because of my large lunch, plus I didn't really feel all that hungry, I think my lower GI options are finally taking effect.

Tuesday
exercise ball
Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 30g oats with low fat milk
Lunch: leftover morrocan pork with tomato coucous
20 minute brisk walk
Dinner: 1 1/2 cups green steamed veges, 1 bowl of chowder
Snacks: mandarin, apple
Drinks: 1 beer

Your Doing Awsome Girl!!!!!!!! Lets Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello and welcome back.

I just caught your diary today.

It sounds like you're doing well. I like to say we live in a world where we sometimes go out to eat but when we do that we have to be concious of what we order and how much of it we eat.

You did an exellent job while your husband was home by eating healthy despite what he was eating. YAY YOU! *applauds*
