Hi, everyone! I haven't been here in months. I figured I'd start fresh with a new diary. For those that don't know me- I've been on this forum for years. I've lost and regained weight countless times. My biggest struggle losing weight is emotional eating. I eat when I'm happy, sad, mad, bored, etc. My highest weight was 290 lbs back in 2006. Several years ago I lost a lot of weight and got down to around 185 lbs. I steadily gained weight back though, and have stayed around 215-230 for the last couple of years. In the past I have used strict calorie counting, portion control, and low carb diets to lose weight. Those methods have always worked for me, but I never stick to them. I always get sick of it and quit. The last time I was on a diet I ditched the tedious calorie counting and strict low carb diet, and just made healthier choices. I avoided carbs when possible, ate healthy snacks, and cut back on my portions. I was a lot happier that way, so that is what I will be doing again.

Other fun facts about me:
I am 39 years old.
I'm met, fell in love with, and married another member of this site.
I have 3 wonderful kids.
I work from home.
I love pop, chocolate, and all the unhealthy things. :blush5:
Not a fan of exercise. I'll do it, but again, not a fan. :smilielol5:

I'm 5'6". My goal is to get down to around 160 or 170 lbs. That may still seem high to some, but I do carry my weight fairly well, and I'm not going for a super skinny look. I feel that goal is realistic, but it could change down the road. I'm not attached to a certain number. As long as I'm happy and healthy that's all that matters.

I actually don't know my current weight, and probably won't weigh myself for another week or two. The reason being... I just had a baby!! I had a c-section on Jan 3rd, and am still a little swollen in my legs and feet. I gained 18 lbs during the pregnancy and was up to 248 on the day of delivery, but I have no idea what I weigh now. For those that know us around here... Chef and I are over the moon with our new little girl. She is absolutely perfect!!! She's healthy, beautiful, and has the cutest chubby little cheeks! :beating:

I'm doing really good too. My recovery from the c-section has not been nearly as bad as I thought it would be, so that's a relief. Since I just had a baby, I obviously can't do anything strenuous until I get the ok from my doctor, but I'd like to get back to focusing on weight loss. I hope everyone here has been doing good as well. I'm not sure how regularly I'll be posting with a new baby, but I will be around for sure. :waving:

Congratulations to you and chef :)

after all the stress, you have a wonderful outcome, look after yourself and don't push to hard to fast.

I am so happy for you both!!!
Congratulations Jen & chef!
I'm on my phone or I would say so much more.
Excellent news :D
Happy having you back in here too, Jen xoxo

I was going to say it´s always nice to hear from you and your avatar never fails to makes me smile - then I see you´ve just had a baby :hurray: Congratulations to the both of you and all the best to the entire family

Thank you, everyone! We're extremely happy with our new bundle of joy! :)

My swelling seems to be gone. It was pretty bad for a while. I had pitted edema. If you pushed on my leg, it stayed indented for a long time. Kind of gross, but also slightly fascinating at the same time. lol! I won't be missing it though. My legs and feet hurt a lot the last couple of months. They feel much better now.

Since my swelling is gone, I went ahead and weighed myself yesterday morning. I was down from 248 to 231. So only one more pound to get down to what I was pre-pregnancy.

My c-section scar is healing nicely and doesn't really hurt. At most it feels like a sunburn. It looks pretty good too, so that's nice. Not that anyone is seeing it besides Chef, but I'm still happy about it. lol!

The last week has went ok. I haven't been too strict or anything. I've pretty much just cut down on snacks. I was eating a ton of them before, so I thought that would be a good place to start. I need to work on drinking more water and I also need to dig out my fitbit.

I'll probably weigh myself again next Friday... if I remember. I'm pretty tired most of the time...lol!

Health doing well? Almost back down to pre-pregnancy weight? Congratulations!

I'm doing pretty good. I'm still on blood thinner injections for the next two weeks to prevent blood clots. I'm guessing the doctor will take me off of them when I go for my postpartum visit. I really hope so anyway, because they suck and aren't cheap. My stomach feels pretty much back to normal. Honestly, I'm really surprised by how well my body handled everything. lol!

I was down to 229 this morning. :hurray:

I did have cake and ice cream last night. My baby boy, who's not so much a baby anymore, turned 12! He's as tall as me now! I'm sure before long I'll be looking up at him. I keep telling him to stop growing, but he doesn't listen. lol! He requested spaghetti for dinner. So between dinner and cake... lots of carbs. I ate really good in the morning and afternoon though, so I'm not worried about it.

The last few weeks have been a little crazy. Our kids have had so many snow days it's ridiculous. Week before last they closed school 4 out of the 5 days because it was literally like -30 degrees with the wind chills. Last week was 2 times I think. And I'm guessing they'll close school tomorrow, because the weather is calling for 10 inches of snow by tomorrow night. Obviously it's better to keep them home and stay safe, buuuuut this Mom is a little tired of it. haha! Mother Nature needs to get her act together! Come on, spring!

In other news... I really need new pants. I have two pair that "fit". Fit, as in, I can get them on my body. haha! One pair is comically big. Like 'I need a belt or they might fall down' big. The other pair fits like the skin of someone that's had one too many face lifts. :smilielol5: They are tiiiiight! I need something in the middle. haha! Hopefully if the weather ever cooperates, we can go shopping and I can get a pair.

Well, I should probably get back to work while the baby is still sleeping and I can actually get something done. I hope everyone has a great day! :)

While you have been snowed in we have been having bushfires & the hottest January on record. Crazy weather! I hope you can get out to get some new pants soon. It's lovely hearing you sounding so happy Jen. Sending some Tassie love to you & Chef xoxo
